After a minute, she regains her breath, falling back to the bed.

“What the hell was that?”

“That was me waking up to a fucking sensational blow job that had me seeing stars and losing my mind.”

“And the other?”

“If you have to ask, there’s a problem.”

“Did you just try to fuck me into agreeing to—”

I adjust my hold, rocking to my back and keeping us connected. “I love you.”

“Don’t try to sweet talk me now. You manipulated me during sex.” The heat in her eyes and sharpness in her tone have my cock lurching inside her.

“Seems like I need to try harder.”

She makes a move to roll and I trap her to my body. “It isn’t a surprise I want you at my place.”

“No, no one could mistake your opinion on my move. But I thought you understood my reasoning.”

“Your reasoning that it’s relationship suicide?”

“Yes, we need more time.”

“That’s bullshit, Rowan.”

Her complexion flames with anger. “It’s bullshit? Bullshit that I want to protect us?”

“Protect us from what?”

She snaps her mouth closed, her eyes glazing over. My mind goes on alert. She’s looking at me, but her mind is elsewhere. “Baby, protect us from what?”

“At some point, the newness will wear off. When that happens, everything changes. If I move in with you, I’ll speed up that process.”

Jesus Christ, she reliving the nightmare that fucking asshole put her through.

As if she reads my thoughts, she snaps, “I-I-I just think…”

I frame her face as she tries to look away, forcing her to see me. “You are the best thing that has ever happened to me. In my thirty-one years, I’ve seen and done a lot of shit. Shit that can scar a man. Never believed someone so unbelievably perfect was out there for me. Now I know differently, and I’m not willing to waste a fucking minute. You think the newness is ever going to wear off of us living our life together?”

Her gaze fills with remorse. “I wasn’t comparing you to anyone.”

“Good, because no one will ever compare to you.”

Her face softens and she relaxes into me. “I’m taking the offer on my house.”

Her immediate change of subject is a good sign. “You should.”

“Dad thinks I’ll get multiple offers this week.”

“We knew it was coming.”

The interest in Rowan’s place started pre-list. It’s only been three days since Cassie and Hotch left, but word spread wide and quick. Neighbors came around asking and then the calls started. Considering the area of town and the work she put into it, the bungalow is highly sought after.

“I don’t want to drag it out. The couple who viewed it, they had this aura about them. Her reaction reminded me of how I felt the first time I walked through the door.”

“Then it’s meant to be.”
