“You’re not going anywhere,” Xander interrupts.

I give him a look and he rolls his eyes.

“You’re staying right here,” he repeats.

“I guess I’m staying here,” I tell Lisabell on a sigh.

“Yeah, I heard,” she says and I can hear the smile in her voice. “He seems to have everything under control.”

“Yep. He’s being a grizzly bear,” I tell her with a grin.

His protectiveness is extremely cute.

“Okay. You and yourfriendhave fun,” Lisabell says.

I’m glad Xander can’t hear her end of the conversation.

“Good night, Lisabell,” I tell her.

“Oh, and Juliette,” she says, “I’m sorry about earlier.”

My eyes flutter shut while my chest aches. I hate that she feels the need to apologize for wanting something for herself.

“You have absolutely nothing to apologize for. You’re chasing your happiness, Bells. I’ll be fine right here.”

“So, you’re not coming with me?” she asks sadly.

I allowed myself to consider the idea for a moment but that move to L.A. isn’t my dream.

“I can’t, Lisabell.”

“I know. But where are you going to live? Who would you stay with?”

“Lisabell, I’ll figure everything out, okay? Now, go to bed.”

“Yes, mom,” she jokes. “I love you, Julie.”

“I love you too.”

She hangs up and I turn to the man standing beside me in the room.

“What was that about?” he questions with a frown.

“Lisabell’s moving to L.A.”

He nods. “I’m aware. That’s quite an opportunity she has to build out her agency, but I’m still not sure how to break the news to the twins.

“I’m sure she’ll talk to them but if anything, I’ll them with you,” I tell him.

“Thank you. What’s your plan for after she’s gone? Where do you plan to live?”

Right, I forgot he was aware of my situation.

I shrug. “I’ll figure it out.”

Xander is quiet for several moments. I look up at him to find him deep in thought. Finally, he sighs softly before sitting next to me on the bed.

“You can stay here.”
