“Don’t mind me. I’m just getting what I’m owed,” I state.

“Which is?” she prompts.

“A good morning kiss.”

Before she can reply, my lips brush against hers. It’s the faintest touch, but even something as little as that causes a raging inferno inside me. Fuck, this woman has no idea what she does to me. Her lips part and she leans in, her body pressing against mine. She lets out a soft moan as I drive her back against the wall, my lips moving with hers as a desperate kind of hunger passes between us.

Juliette kisses me back, hard and for the longest moment, nothing else exists except for us right here in this moment. Just as I’m starting to consider the implications of fucking her on my desk, the door is slammed open.

Juliette gasps in surprise and I leap away from her like I was electrocuted. We both turn to look at the person at the door. Declan’s staring back at us with the most dumbfounded expression on his face.

Shit.

It could be worse, though. It could have been one of my employees instead of my best friend.

“Holy hell!” Declan states with wide eyes.

Juliette leans forward and punches my chest.

“You didn’t lock the door?” she whisper-shouts.

“I thought that would be even more suspicious. No one ever comes in here without knocking,” I retort. “Except assholes who also happen to be my best friend.”

Declan’s still staring at us in shock. I sigh before walking to my desk and taking a seat in an effort to hide my dick, which is very hard right now. Juliette sits in front of me. She’s flushed red and not meeting my eyes.

“Are you going to stand there all day?”

Declan finally seems to shake off his shock long enough to glare at me. He walks in and takes a seat beside Juliette. He’s silent for several seconds, a feat for him, until he finally starts laughing.

I raise an eyebrow. “Have you finally lost it?”

He rolls his eyes. “I’m just proud of you, man. You actually took my advice for once. Well done.”

I shift uncomfortably at the insinuation that Juliette and I are together because of him. Anything he has a hand in tends to be a little crazy.

“Fuck off.”

“So, when did this happen?” he asks, gesturing at us.

“None of your business. And knock before you come in, asshole!”

“Sorry, I didn’t think you’d be up to anything sordid in here,” he says with a grin. “I really am proud of you, though. You too, Julie.”

Juliette makes sure not to look at him as she nods once. She’s clearly embarrassed. I glare at my best friend, who gives me an innocent shrug.

“I think I should leave,” she says, getting to her feet.

“No, stay,” I state. “I’ve got some things to sort out but I should be done in an hour or two.”

She shakes her head. “I need to get home. Lisabell still needs my help packing and I need to start packing up as well, so I can move into your house.”

“Did she just say she’s moving into your house?” Declan asks.

“Yeah, I asked her to,” I reply turning back to the woman who is slowly chipping away the ice surrounding my heart.

“You’re sleeping over, right?”

She gives me an apologetic smile. “I can’t. Lisabell’s probably at your house right now, saying goodbye to the twins. I’ll meet her there and we’ll head home together. She’s leaving next week and I want to spend every minute I can with her until she has to go. I also have to get up early tomorrow and be at the hotel.”
