He was basically trapped in the middle of nowhere without a phone or vehicle. He didn’t even have his own damn wallet.

How the hell was he going to get out of there? Because he had to get out. He had to go after Jack. He couldn’t let him do something this stupid.

While he was at it, he knew he was going to need some backup as well.

He headed back into the bedroom and searched through the whole dresser. He only came up with more guns. There was ammo too, but no phones. There wasn’t a landline there either.

He got dressed and walked outside, already resigned to walking the whole way when he caught sight of what looked like an oversized shed.

The door had the same keypad lock as the front door.

“Please work,” he muttered as he typed in the same code Jack had used on the other door.

A beep and green flashes had him sighing in relief.

He opened the door and when he took a step inside, a light turned on.

He ran his gaze across the room, unsurprised to find a massive gun safe and a few tools displayed on the wall. Then he saw the dirt bikes. There were two of them. There was a bit of caked mud on the tires so he figured they worked.

He made a sound he was glad no one was around to hear when he spotted a set of keys hanging from a nail on the wall. There were two helmets as well, so he took one and pulled it over his head. It was a smidge too big, but it would do.

He pulled the nearest bike out of the shed and closed the door after him, then he got on the bike and drove out of there like he had the cops after him.

The drive out to the cabin may have taken an hour but he was pretty sure the drive back didn’t take him much more than forty minutes. Fortunately, it was too late in the day for the morning rush or he may have caused an accident or two with the way he drove.

His heart was beating rapidly as he pulled up in front of a baby blue house he’d only been at once before. There were bikes parked out front. Ones he knew well.

He walked to the front door and wasn’t surprised to find it unlocked. He could hear voices coming from the living room and headed in that direction. Jet and Sully looked up the second he reached the doorway while Walker and Ash didn’t seem to notice until Jet stood.

“Zero. Are you okay?” he asked, stopping the other’s conversation.

He didn’t know how to answer that, so he didn’t.

“I need your help,” he said, his hands clenching into fists just at the thought of Jack being in that place. “Jack needs your help.”

Chapter Thirteen

Zero

HIS LEG was bouncing, and he was wringing his hands. The last fucking thing he wanted was to meet with another cop and yet, here he was.

A beige sedan pulled up behind them and when the engine cut out, a woman got out of the driver’s side. She walked around the car, her gaze running over Zero for a quick moment before she turned to Walker.

“I didn’t think I’d ever hear from you,” she said.

“I need a favor.”

The woman’s brows jumped, and she hesitated for a second, then stepped closer.

“I owe you but I’m not getting involved in anything illegal,” she said.

“It’s not,” Walker said, his lips twitching. “Per say.”

She stared at Walker for a few very long seconds before she asked, “What is it?”

Walker glanced at Zero who let out a breath before speaking.

“One of your colleagues has been harassing one of ours. He’s almost gotten him killed several times.”
