“I could just torture it out of you,” Dmitri said with a raised brow.

Jack crossed his arms, remaining calm. “Do you love your son?”

Dmitri went still. His jaw ticking just slightly.

“I don’t have a son,” he ground out.

“I’m pretty sure Viktor would disagree.”

“What the hell are you doing?” Gillies asked, his voice rising with each word.

“Leverage.” He glanced at Gillies. “Unlike you, I know how to get it and use it.”

He reached into his back pocket slowly, making sure Dmitri was watching. He pulled out a printed photo. It was the best he could do with the time he had. Thank god for Auggie.

He put the photo on the table between him and Dmitri. The kid was barely twenty, wearing blue jeans and a white T-shirt. His blond hair was chin-length, and he’d inherited his father’s steel-colored eyes. His held a warmth he doubted anyone had ever seen in Dimitri’s. The photo was taken on the kid’s college campus in Chicago.

From the hard set of Dimitri’s jaw, he knew Auggie had found the right kid.

“You call your men off and you never get anywhere near me or mine again,” Jack said. “Or he’ll pay the price.”

He wasn’t about to kill some innocent college kid, but Dmitri didn’t need to know that.

Dmitri looked like he’d rather bash Jack’s head in than do as he was told but it seemed his love for his kid was bigger than his need for violence.

Dmitri pulled out a phone and made a call. He spoke in English for Jack’s benefit as he told his men to stand down, then he lowered the phone and stared straight into Jack’s eyes.

“Who’s the snitch?”

Jack glanced at Gillies who shook his head, but there was no turning back.

“Ricky.”

He was sitting on Sully and Ash’s couch, leg bouncing and his thoughts running rampant. He and Walker had been back for over half an hour and they still hadn’t done a damn thing. He was losing his patience.

Ash was upstairs and Jet was either with her or somewhere else in the house. Stiletto and Saint had shown up some time while they’d met with Lopez and now, they were busy talking to Walker, about what, he had no fucking idea.

Sully was typing on his phone and he didn’t look nearly as worried as he would’ve expected him to be considering his twin was about to walk into his own death. If he hadn’t already.

“Why exactly are we still here?” he asked, looking around the room.

“Because Jack’s not stupid,” Sully said, looking up from his phone. “He’s not gonna go in there without a plan and plans take time.”

“You didn’t see him.”

His fingers closed over Jack’s note, the paper crinkling and catching Sully’s eyes.

Sully scoffed. “You’re not the first person he’s been protective of.”

“Fuck you,” he said through gritted teeth. “You didn’t even realize he was protecting you.”

“Sorry,” Sully said on a sigh. He ran his hands down his face. “My brother evidently gets a bit irrational when he’s trying to protect the people he cares about.”

“You think?” he hissed, throwing his hands up.

Whatever Sully was about to say was cut short by Jet storming into the room.
