If he was going to ask to stay with them, the least he could do was behave.

“Jack.”

He glanced to his right, finding Walker standing in the doorway with a warm smile on his lips. He wasn’t surprised when he was wrapped up in Walker’s arms.

A shaky breath escaped him as he buried his face in Walker’s shoulder. He hadn’t realized until then just how much he’d missed him. How fucking much he’d missed them all.

When Walker let go of him, he took a seat at the table as far from Zero as possible which, unfortunately, wasn’t that far at all.

Dinner was awkward as hell.

Actually, that was an understatement.

Zero kept sneaking glances at him as if he wouldn’t notice. Walker kept looking between them, a deep line between his brows as if he was trying to figure out what was going on. Guess Zero hadn’t told them.

Once they all finished what should’ve been an amazing meal—he couldn’t find it in himself to truly enjoy it knowing why he was eating with them instead of Sully—Walker cleared his throat.

“What’s on your mind?” Walker asked. “I take it there’s a reason you’re spending your first day as a free man here with us instead of… well, anywhere else.”

Jack swallowed hard and looked up, meeting Walker’s gray gaze.

“Can I stay here?”

“Of course,” Walker said and grabbed their plates and took them to the kitchen.

Jet dropped his head back with a drawn-out groan. “Not another one.”

“Hey,” Zero exclaimed. “You love me.”

“I do,” Jet said on a sigh, then turned a nasty look on Zero. “Except when I remember you fucked my husband-to-be.”

Walker popped his head back into the room, a huge smile on his face. “We’re getting married?”

Jet turned toward Walker, his affection and love for the man showing clearly in the way he looked at him.

He didn’t know what the hell to feel or think. Had Walker cheated on Jet? Why were they still so happy then? And why was the homewrecker in their house? Eating dinner with them?

He didn’t notice he was glaring at Zero until the guy frowned at him then rolled his eyes.

“It was while we were cellmates,” Zero said.

They stared at each other for so long that he missed the first time Walker tried to get his attention. It took Jet leaning in front of Zero to break their staring contest.

“Back to your question,” Walker said to him, making him look up to meet his gaze. “Zero just got a place. He’s in search of a roommate so if you’re looking for a more permanent solution, maybe that could be something?”

He snapped his gaze back to Zero and the horrified look on the man’s face was enough to make him say yes.

He didn’t, though. Not right away.

Walker’s words resounded in his mind. Something permanent. Is that what he had to do? Was that where he was in his life? Kicked out of his own house. Forgotten by his own damn twin. So that now, he had to consider moving in with the one guy he wanted the least to do with? Actually, that wasn’t true. He wanted even less to do with Sully.

“I don’t know about permanent, but…” he hesitated. If it wasn’t for the hopeful, desperate look on Jet’s face, he might’ve said no. “A few days would be nice.”

He saw a quick flash of panic in Zero’s eyes before he schooled his expression.

“Sure. I’ve got the room,” Zero said. “At least you won’t have to listen to these two go at it all night.”

Jet cracked up while Walker sighed.
