“Then come to the Boston concert on Saturday,” she said, her voice filled with excitement. “I’ll have Trudy hook you up with a VIP pass. I’ll text you the details tomorrow.”

“Sounds good,” I confirmed, my heart pounding in my chest, feeling a rush of anticipation at the thought of seeing her again.

We chatted a bit more about the tour, her life on the road, and what had been happening with me since we’d last spoken. As our conversation continued, she mentioned Ghost casually a few times. Of course, she had gotten to know him while she was writing a story about him and his band, but it made me realize that I needed to be completely truthful with her that the man I had feelings for was Ghost. If we were going to have any chance of moving forward, she deserved to know everything, no matter how uncomfortable it made me feel.

“Remi, there’s something I need to talk to you about when I see you,” I confessed, my throat tightening with anxiety.

Her expression shifted to concern.“Is it about your unresolved feelings for someone else?” she guessed.

I nodded, impressed by her intuition. “Partly, yes, but it’s mostly about us.”

“Alright,” she agreed, her eyes searching mine through the screen. “We’ll talk about it in Boston. Just promise me one thing, Grey?”

“Anything,” I vowed, desperate to show her that I was committed to rebuilding our relationship.

“Be honest with me,” she implored. “No more secrets or half-truths. If we’re going to figure this out, no matter how it turns out, we need to be completely open with each other.”

I took a deep breath, feeling a mingling of hope and nerves. “I promise, Remi,” I assured her. “No more secrets.”

A warm smile spread across her features. “Good,” she said. “I can’t wait to see you on Saturday, Greyson.”

I couldn’t help but return her smile. “Me too. I’ve missed you, Rem.”

“Missed you too,” she admitted softly, her eyes shining with sincerity. It felt like a balm to my soul, knowing that she still cared.

“Okay, see you then,” I told her, trying not to grin crazily like a complete fool. “Take care, Remi.”

“You too, Grey,” she said before ending the call.

As I stared out at the glittering cityscape, I felt a strange mix of emotions swirling within me. Excitement pulsed through my veins at the thought of seeing Remi again, but I couldn’t deny that I was also looking forward to seeing Ghost. The upcoming confrontation terrified me, but I knew it was necessary if I wanted to find closure and move forward.

I returned inside to the party, my emotions swirling inside me like a hurricane, a chaotic mix of hope, nerves, and longing. The chatter and laughter around me seemed distant as if I were underwater. The opulent decorations and twinkling lights blurred together, my mind preoccupied with the decision I had made.

I gravitated toward a quiet corner of the party, away from the glitz and glamour. As I settled into a plush, oversized chair, I stared into the depths of my nearly empty wine glass, the remnants swirling in slow circles. My thoughts raced, a disorienting blend of anxiety and anticipation.

“Greyson Durant, lost in thought?” A familiar voice teased, snapping me out of my reverie. I looked up to find my close friend, Lucy, who was a series regular on Devious, standing before me with a playful smile.

I stood to deposit a kiss on each of her cheeks. “Lucy, good to see you,” I greeted, trying to shake off my introspection. “Just needed a moment to myself.”

“Understandable,” she said, taking a seat in a nearby chair. “These parties can be so much after a while.”

Nodding in agreement, I finished off my wine, the rich flavor doing little to alleviate my anxiety. “So, what’s going on with you?” I asked, attempting to shift the focus away from myself.

“Oh, you know,” Lucy began, complaining about her latest boyfriend and the drama that came with him. As much as I tried to listen, my thoughts kept drifting back to Remi and Ghost.

Lucy must have noticed my preoccupation.“Grey, are you okay?”

“Actually, I’ve been thinking about Remi,” I confessed, not wanting to keep my friend in the dark.

“Really? Why is she on your mind?”

“I realized how much I miss her, and I regret ending our relationship.” Pausing, I hesitated before continuing, “But at the same time, I can’t deny that I still have lingering feelings for someone else.”

Lucy studied me for a moment, her expression thoughtful. “You know, Grey, sometimes the only way to move forward is to confront your emotions head-on.”

“You’re right,” I agreed, mulling over her words. “In fact, I just spoke with Remi, asking if we could meet up this weekend.”

“Good for you, Grey,” Lucy encouraged, giving my hand a reassuring squeeze. “I think it’s important that you face these feelings and find closure, whatever that may look like for you.”
