The words that had embarrassed me so deeply less than a year ago were perfect. Sidney pulled the wedding rings from his pocket and then we did the ring exchange. I couldn’t stop glancing at that powerful symbol of our commitment on my finger. After the ceremonial kiss to seal the marriage, which wasn’t as racy as our first, first kiss but definitely not chaste, Kody joined us and we walked back down the aisle as husband and wife.

The reception was fantastic. How could it not be with all of Ghost Parker in attendance? I never wanted it to end. One by one, the couples in the wedding party made fun entrances to the reception as they were announced. Bash and his mom did some crazy mother-son dance with choreographed moves to a medley of songs. My dad made a wonderful speech that had me tearing up again. Not to be outdone, the boys of Ghost Parker did a rehearsed dance routine together that had everyone cheering and laughing.

My surprise wedding was perfect. I knew at that moment that I was the luckiest woman alive.

Later that night, after we made sure our second marriage was thoroughly consummated, I knew it was time to let him in on my little secret. I rolled over to face him and took a deep breath.

“Bash, our wedding was amazing. I have no idea how you pulled it off, but it was the absolute best surprise of my life. But I think I have an even bigger one for you.”

He was silent for a few moments, and then he kissed me. “Okay, I’m ready. Hit me.”

“Kody’s going to be a big brother.”

Bash stared at me for a few seconds, his face a mix of surprise and joy. When he finally spoke, his voice was almost a whisper.

“You’re pregnant?”

I nodded and his thumb swiped away a tear of joy that escaped the corner of my eye.

“Fuck, wifey,” his voice trembled. “Are you serious?”

I laughed shakily. “Yes.”

His eyes misted over with tears, and then he gathered me in his arms. I felt the warmth of his embrace as he held me tight.

“We’re having a baby,” he said, his voice filled with awe.

“We are,” I confirmed, my heart overflowing with love.
