“County jail?”
“Turns out Benny Boy has a cousin. A man named Andrew White.” He looks at Mercy in the rearview mirror.
“But you might know him by the name Scooter.”
CHAPTER THIRTY
Eightball
I storm into the clubhouse and make my way over to the tables in the back, where most of the brothers are gathered. I briefly notice that there are no club girls around, but I don’t think too much about it.
“What the fuck happened?”
“Someone tried to run Mercy and Jinx off the road, but Jinx rammed him off instead,” Knight answers.
“And you’re just telling me this now?”
“She tried calling you, but you never answered,” Knight snaps at me.
“And that’s something we need to discuss,” Scope states from the end of the table, where he looks set to explode.
“What?”
I look around and take everyone in. “Where the fuck are they?”
“Right here.” I spin around at the sound of Mercy’s voice and find her behind me, with Jinx, Nico, and Rex bringing up the rear.
Scope dives out of his chair and scoops Mercy up into his arms.
“I’m okay. I’m okay, I promise,” she tells him.
I don’t pay them much attention as I head straight for Jinx with Splinter hot on my heels. I pull her to my chest and breathe her in, standing in the center of the room as if nobody else exists. Splinter pushes his way in and moves up behind her until we’re both pinning her in place.
“I’m okay. We both are,” she says with a little laughter in her voice.
I pull back and glare down at her. “Humor me for a minute.”
She face-plants against my chest before turning and letting Splinter kiss her.
“No, don’t mind us,” Rex drawls.
“What, you want a hug too?”
“Touch him and die,” Nico warns, making me laugh.
“Thanks for bringing them back here. I’m still clueless about what’s going on.”
“We might be able to fill in some of the blanks.”
“Come on. I’ll introduce you. I think you’ve met a few already.” I lead Rex and Nico to the tables at the back.
Scope reaches over to shake Nico’s hand before shaking Rex’s. He holds onto it for a second, staring the younger man in the eye. “My girl said you took care of her. Thank you.”
“My pleasure, man.”
“Alright, this is Nico and Rex. They’re…”
“Jinx’s,” Rex answers, making me shake my head.
