“Hmm? The shrinkers? Yeah.”

Splinter slides one on, and Jinx grabs the end of it and pulls it up before they repeat it with the other one.

“Why are they called shrinkers?”

“They help with the swelling. I used to have to wear them all the time. Now I just sleep in them when I feel like the stumps are a little swollen.”

“They don’t hurt?”

“No.”

“Good.” I turn and lay back, grabbing Jinx under the armpits and dragging her on top of me so her head rests on my chest.

“I left my gun in the bathroom.” She lifts her head.

Splinter walks to the bathroom, finds the gun, and brings it back. “Is it okay here?” He points to the bedside table.

She nods. “As long as it’s in reach, it’s fine. My chair…” she hesitates.

“Trust us, Jinx. We will be here if you need us tonight and tomorrow, even if it’s just to carry you to the bathroom to pee.”

She bites her lips before giving in. “Okay.”

“Good girl. Now lie down and get some sleep.”

“I don’t think I’ll be able to sleep like this,” she complains, but her voice is already heavy and her eyes are fluttering.

“That’s alright. We can move in a minute. I just want to hold you for a bit.”

“’Kay,” she whispers before sleep pulls her under.

“This should be weird, right?” Knight breaks the silence, making both Splinter and me laugh quietly so we don’t wake Jinx.

“Maybe. But do you care? Because I don’t. I’m right where I wanna be.”

CHAPTER THIRTY-ONE

Jinx

As the weeks passed, we fell into a routine with far more ease than I expected. There were still some at the club who pushed the boundaries. But for the most part, I was okay, and I wasn’t there nearly as much as the other prospects. I can’t say they were my biggest fans, except for Spoons, who seemed to get along with everyone.

Ryker and Peep, though, were either still pissed over what I did to Scooter or they assumed I slept my way into my current position. I didn’t have the heart to tell them that if I were going to sleep my way up the ladder, I would have made sure to skip the first rung.

I didn’t let it bother me.

And as the weeks turned into months, a friendship grew between Knight, Splinter, Eightball, Rex, and Nico. Initially, I’d worried that there would be some animosity among them, but I could sense they knew how important it was to me that they all get along. I love Rex and Nico. They’ve been my family in every sense of the word for so long that I can’t imagine a life without them in it. I refuse to.

What I hadn’t counted on was how quickly and deeply my feelings would grow for the three bikers who forced their way into my life and my heart. And the sex…it just keeps getting better and better. Considering our rocky start, things had turned around really well. So much so that sometimes it’s hard not to feel a sick sense of dread that something will come along and tear this all away from me.

“Are you trying to shoot laser beams out of your eyes?”

“Motherfucker!” I whirl around and glare at Mercy, who snuck up behind me.

“Some bodyguard you are,” she teases.

I narrow my eyes at her. “Not fair, assassin.”

She sticks her tongue out, and I can’t help but laugh.
