“Where am I?”

“I think we should be the one asking questions. Not you,” said someone gruffly. I am still in a sitting position so I looked up and up towards the manasty who might have possibly saved my life. One of the many. In fact, when I looked around, I saw the others who were in the tram station. They did not crowd me but I can see them spread out. Some have bandages on their arms or head. What happened?

“Look at me,” the manasty in front of me said. He did not move forward so the hiscat did not growl or hissed. But its tail, broken it might be, was moving angrily from left to right.

“Thank you,” I said simply. “For saving my life. Mister?”

He scrunched his eyebrows. I forgot, I’m not on Earth anymore. I must have hit my head hard. I absently touched the back of my neck and felt a lump there. When I looked back at my hand, there was no blood. Thank God for that.

“So you know your life is in danger? Who is after you?”

“I honestly don’t know. I was taken away from my, I mean. I was taken from Zirc - “

“-Zirc?”

“I told you he smelled like him.”

“Why is Kilo and his gang after him?”

“Nobody messes with a Silver Tribe.”

“Kill him.”

More arguments, hissing and growling sounds ensued. I made myself a smaller target by hunching my shoulders and pressing myself against the wall. The hiscat stood and growled but its growls were swallowed by the growls of full grown manasties. The manasty in front of me is now arguing with the smaller guy I saw from the tram. The other guy kept gesturing at me as if I’m a person with a deadly disease.

I remember Zirc did came from the Silver Tribe. But why would they kill me if I’d been with him? I understand that he is not a bad person. In fact, I think he saves his people. I tried to rack my head to remember what his mission was. At least they haven’t figured out I’m a she. I gathered my arms towards me, around my knees. More of them gathered towards the two men in front of me. I need to stay calm and find a way to get out of here. I already decided I will free myself. I did, though with the help of Scarface. That man is the one I should be thankful for.

“Have you smelled him?” The shorter guy pointed at me again. “He will kill for him. If he is on this mountain, he will burn this to the ground and kill everyone in it.”

“You’re being dramatic,” one of the guys I saw earlier rolled his eyes. “Last I heard, he was very civil.” I think I had a short term memory loss. They looked familiar, but I don’t remember their names.

“You haven’t heard the news then. I heard that he had a run in with Kilo’s gang. Freeing many slaves but he killed plenty of the gang members.”

“He had help.”

“You are the missing the point,” the man argued. “He killed plenty without even turning into a Silver Beast!”

I wish the Silver Beast was here to shut them all up. Their arguments became too loud that I missed when the old manasty sidled up to me and touched my hair between his fingers.

I froze. The hiscat might have felt it as well when its tail froze, slowly turned toward me, its gaze laser focused on the man beside me.

Up close to the man, I first noticed his smell is like sea salt. He looks unwashed but their water is always salty like the sea. Strange. And his eyes. Though he has white coloring all over, not just his stripes, his eyes are white and glazed over like he’s blind?

“The hiscat knows I will not hurt you. It can sense things. A lot of things young one. I will keep your secret,” he whispered low amid the chaos of all shouting. “Ah, here he is now.”

The hiscat sidled up to me first then plonked its ass on one of my thighs. I can see it just looked puzzled at the man. Said man took his hand off my hair and motioned towards the hiscat. And that’s when I know he might be partially blind. He missed the hiscat until he swiped sideways and touched it. Slowly moving his palm against its skin.

“It looks like he likes you as well,” I murmured back.

“He? Oh, I thought this one would be a female hiscat.” The hiscat seemed to understand and it snorted. “Lots of pride on this one. That is good. For someone with a deep scar,” he palmed its ridged back. Some of the old crust blood chipped off.

Then a miracle happened. His eyes glowed a bit, the same time the small crystals beads on his wrist glowed. White for healing? The hiscat dared not move. I watched with awe as some of the fresh wounds healed up and scabbed like it’s already been two weeks or more. A scar is still visible, the hiscat doesn’t have any hair. But, it looked healed. I wonder why the old man can’t heal himself if he has the capacity to heal? Or maybe it’s just hiscats?

Then the hiscat purred and butted its head against my arm. “Yes, I will heal your master,” the old man announced before placing his palm gently on my hair. I did not feel any zinging or electricity that I expect from movies. Nothing. Until I felt slightly better and noticed that I was sitting upright. Most importantly, the back of my head doesn’t hurt.

“Thank you,” I looked into the old man’s eyes. “Thank you .“ Just when I thought things are going to get bad, the universe will bring angels into my life.

“No young one, no need to thank me. I should be the one to thank you.”
