I stilled. Fuck me. Who told him? The Elders?

“I don’t know what you’re talking about. The only alien I’ve been with has been Coone. You know I am mated to him.” I shifted, loosening my muscles. I can fight him one on one. I know about his strength. I can overpowered him, another oversight on my part.

Travre chuckled. “Zirc, do not lie to me. You are not our only mercenary. Word has reached us about an undocumented alien roaming the countryside of West Sector.”

Why do they care about Brin?

“What about this alien?” I would gather first everything they need to know.

“Hiscats were not afraid of this alien. He could tame them.”

“Anything else?” I knew the hiscats were going to be a problem for Brin. Damn it. I should have done something about it before I left Ageles.

“Do not lie to me, Zirc. I have eyes everywhere.”

I see myself believing that. How could I had been so naive that I could keep Brin from authorities?

“Where isshe?”

FUCK.

“What did you say?”

“You’re hearing is not impaired.” His tone of voice has changed. The air in the room became charged with violence. “I will ask again, Zirc. Where is she? I may be the weakest among the elders, but I am not an idiot. It is my wisdom that made me an Elder. Everyone seemed to have forgotten that a hiscat will only bow. To a female.”

“So what if the alien was female? There are plenty of them on this planet right now.”

He pulled his hands toward him. “You are making this harder on yourself, Zirc. I had a vested interest in you. The seers told me our time has come.”

“You mean we have lost all the female eggs on this planet?”

Travre made an exasperated sound. “No, you imbecile. That is not the point. You are listening only with your heart and cock. Just like your parents!”

My vision darkened. My beast growled. I felt myself changing faster than I could stop it.

But just as quickly, I gasped and came down to my seat. Steeled cords bound me to the seat from my neck down to my legs. I tried to unseat myself. “Let me go!”

“No, Zirc. You have sealed your fate. I see you are going to be stubborn about this female. I do not envy your future.” He shook his head and slowly stood up. He picked something from his pocket. A black cloth, and true enough, inside was the black crystal. The air in the room became heavy. Yet, the Elder wasn’t affected.

“You have gone mad!” I raged at him. “You have the relic in your hands. Our ancestors honed its power. It could be used for medical purposes to save our kind!”

Travre walked towards me but not near enough that I could bite him. He sat on the edge of the table, one thigh resting, the other on the ready.

“Release me,” my voice was of the Silver Beast. Brin. We have to go to Brin.

“Your scent has changed, Zirc. I smelled it as soon as I saw you entered through those double doors.”

“I haven’t took a bath in 3 days!” I growled at him but our voice only bounced back from the walls. I would not be surprised if no one could hear us from beyond the door at my back.

“Nofemalealien species have mated with a manasty. No one. Until your parents did.”

I stilled. What nonsense was he talking about? I expected this from the lead Elder, but not from him. “Has he poisoned your mind as well about my parents?”

“He?” his voice sounded as if we were just casually chatting. “Ah, our esteemed leader. All the Elders knew Zirc. When I became an Elder, I knew. We kept this secret from your tribe, even the High Council. I found it hard to believe Roqs or Crix and his triad mates did not put realize this.” He paused.

I cursed myself.

Then he laughed. “Zirc, I see. You knew. Roqs, Crix, his triad mates. Who else knew? Is she being transported to the Purple Tribe so that those foolish Purple Twins could protect her? You imbecile fools!”
