This time, Travre stood up from the table and began to pace, holding the crystal tightly in his right hand. “How could fate give this precious gift to unworthy manasties!”

“What did you say about my parents?” I wasn’t an idiot. I was told my parents defiled the alien female they saved. And Roqs’ parents witnessed it. Did Roqs’ parents betrayed mine just as I suspected?

Travre stopped pacing and faced me. His face livid. “The alien female was supposed to be killed together with your parents. As per our customs, any unreported alien will result in death of the alien and the locals who harbored them.”

“I had two more weeks before that time was up,” I countered. I knew our laws.

“But your parents had the alien female for almost a year!”

I was shocked. “That’s impossible. They told me -”

“Yes, they told everyone that it was only for three months. Your parents were heroes, Zirc,” his voice softened and stopped pacing a few feet away from me. “The alien female was a fugitive from another planet. She was a slave and escaped from her masters. Your parents were off-planet that time. They smuggled her into our planet and was later found out. Roqs’ parents had no choice but to report it. They believed in their Alphas, your parents. They wanted the female to be killed because they wanted to save your parents.”

That was true. I was told Roqs’ parents wanted to save my parents. “Then it was all in vain because my parents and the female was killed.”

I saw the exact moment Travre’s lips curved. “That is where the history went wrong. I was young then, just an apprentice. The Elders gave me the task. This task made me the Elder. I pulled the biggest hoax in the history of our planet.”

“If you are the one responsible for my parent’s death,” I threatened him.

“You are saying the wrong things, Zirc. You are blinded by your rage for your parents’ death and the need to protect your new mate. A female mate. Your parents mated with the female. Do you understand what it means?”

What I understand was he was a lunatic! I had to escape from here. Brin needs to be protected.

You are mated with her, Zirc.

Roqs voice. Mate. Wait, my parents. Mated.

“You mean,” I could hardly voice the thoughts running in my head. “My fathers - but, but that’s impossible.”

“Is it?” he countered back. He leaned on the table. “The difference between your parents and your situation Zirc was that your parents are a mated pair ofmanasties. You are mated to a non-manasty. Roqs wasn’t your mate. Even when you have sex with this female, nothing will happen. You need to have your manasty mate to complete the union.”

I felt as if there was a quake shaking me from inside. “Are you telling me -” I could not even say it.

Travre nodded. “Yes, that was confirmed. The biggest hoax I’ve ever made was to fool everyone into thinking the female mated to your parents were killed with them. Your parents begged the Elders to save the female. In exchange, they would not fight their execution to save their mate. Their pregnant mate.”

Pregnant -

Brin -

I shook my head. “Lies,” I growled at him. My teeth lengthening.

“I should not be surprised you are this stubborn. I saw where you got it from.” Quickly, he pulled something from his other pocket and a gag was placed in the lower side of my face. I could not shout at him. My growls, the only thing I could do right now, were the only thing that could be heard loudly.

“Listen to me, Zirc. I would gain nothing if I speak this truth. In fact, the Elders were forbidden to speak about this. But I know it has to be said. If I were in your place, I would want the truth. Your parents were able to mate with an alien female with unknown origins. She looked nothing like the alien female you saw. Yes, I know what she looked like. You will stay here, under my care, until Roqs finds you. I will bargain your life, in exchange for her. Love, loyalty and word of honor, after all, are sacred to the Silver Tribe. Meanwhile,” he stood straight. “Make yourself comfortable. I’ll be sure to send someone to feed you in a while.”

I thrashed my body any way I could to dislodge myself from this entrapment.

“You disappoint me, Zirc. You failed to bring me the true relic that will save our kind.” He started to walk away.

Fuck. Fuuccckkk.

My beast howled inside me. This place was a whole setup right from the start. I even brought the weapon that would work against my Silver Beast.

I need a way to get out of here. Brin is in danger. Roqs and Coone will have no idea what’s going after them. They will be betrayed.

“Oh, before I forget,” the Elder said. I glared at him. “You do understand you have a half-brother roaming the galaxy right now? If you want the tracking device I have on him, you will stay here.”

Shit. Fuck.
