They?So Parker doesn’t live alone. I carefully turn around and see an elderly woman standing at the end of the hall with her walker.

Is she a risk? No, but if she was, I could have easily pushed her down the flight of stairs to her right to make my life less complicated. Keeping my amusing thoughts at the back of my mind, I focus on the situation at hand.

I hold up the empty brown wrapped box. “I’m delivering a package.”

“Do you want me to give it to them?” the lady asks.

“That’s alright. It’s a very fragile package. I’ll just come back later,” I say in a low voice.

The woman nods and harrumphs before unlocking her apartment door across the hall and going in.

When she closes the door, I blow out a deep breath and take Parker’s apartment keys out. I need to be quick because I can’t afford for anyone else to see me around.

I quickly unlock the door and get inside before shutting the door closed.

The apartment is compact like any other simple New York apartment, but this one is spotless and has a sweet lemon fragrance in the air.

Without wasting time, I move through the house and find the first bedroom with punk rock posters all over the wall and purple wallpaper with heaps of clothes strewn across the floor.

This can’t possibly be Parker’s room. Closing the door, I move across the hall to the second bedroom.

This is her room. I just know it is. Pale curtains moving slightly in the wind, a neat bed against the wall with a white comforter. There’s a bookshelf in the corner crammed with rows of thick-spined novels.

The other end of her room has her desk which is piled with stacks of paper and a MacBook on the top.

I carefully lift the papers and look through each of them. It’s all literature related documents with her school assignments.

Leaving the papers down just as they were, I move towards a small door and open it to find the closet.

I pick up a folded t-shirt and can get hints of Parker’s strawberry-scented fragrance from the material.

I leave the t-shirt down as my eyes move over to a row that holds her neatly folded lingerie together in a pink box. I never took Parker for the type to have a lot of sexy underwear. But apparently, there is more than meets the eye.

I’m not being a pervert or anything, but when I lift a pair of lacy black panties from the box, I momentarily picture Parker wearing just that. And it makes my blood pump faster as my dick hardens.

It’s a nice image. I leave the underwear back and close the closet before moving towards her bookshelf.

“Brontë,” I say to myself as I run my finger against the spine.

I need to flesh out Parker’s true self. I want to know what makes her who she is. She loves books and has a thing for sexy lingerie. She’s a virgin, so perhaps she’s saving herself?

But I want to know more. I give her bookcase a once over and just as I am about to turn and leave, something right at the bottom catches my eye. It’s a small black book that has the word journal written across its leather surface in gold italic lettering.

I bend down and retrieve the book. It’s covered in an inch of dust which suggests that she hasn’t used it in a long time, but I still need to be sure, so I open the journal and flick through the pages until I find the last entry. The 18th of October, 2020 is her last entry. She hasn’t used it since then.

I blow the dust off the book, before shoving it into my hoodie pockets. Who is she going to blame anyway if she finds her journal missing?

I take the box and check that nothing is out of its place, before leaving the apartment. I’d just have to use the journal for more information.

Parker

“Dorian is vain. He is egotistical. If you analyse his character, you’ll see that Dorian has sociopathic inclinations,” Professor Tillman says. “He doesn’t feel any guilt and remorse when his fiancé Sybil kills herself, but we’ll discuss that later. Dorian has an air about himself. He has wealth, youth and of course beauty.”

I sit back in my seat as I look at the part we’re reading. It’s been three hours already and now we’ve reached Chapter 7 of The Picture Of Dorian Gray discussion.
