About Last Night

Parker

I wake up to the sounds of a bustling New York City and my annoying alarm, ringing like it’s Christmas morning.

Grabbing my phone from my bedside table, I swipe across my screen to cancel the alarm and lay back against the cool covers.

It takes me a few seconds to register what happened last night and immediately, I turn around to find the spot beside me empty. Hudson isn’t there.Did he leave-

My phone starts ringing and I stare down at the screen to see an unknown caller ID pop up. I answer it anyway.

“Did I wake you, baby?” The familiar rumble of Hudson’s voice fills the other end of the line. And baby? I don’t know where that came from, but I liked it. A lot.

“No, I woke up on my own.” I try to sound as clear as I can without that awful raspy morning voice. “Also, how did you get my number?”

I can hear the purr of his car engine on the other end and I can visually imagine him with one toned arm on the wheel, the other on the phone with me and his foot pressing down on the accelerator as he went faster.

The danger, the power ever-present in his dark, daring, poisonous, cat-like green orifices.

Pretty much like our sex last night. My desire flickered to life as the butterflies in my abdomen danced. If the thought of him just driving his car turned me on, I am a lost cause.

“I have my ways,” he says. “How did you sleep?”

“I feel tired,” I tell him. “I wish I didn’t have to go to any classes today.”

“Then don’t.”

“It’s not that simple. I’ll miss out on so much work if I don’t go.”

Hudson laughs, but there’s no humour behind it. “I’ll make it simple. Do you want me to come back and show you how to be a good girl and listen to me?”

I hear myself unconsciously gasp as I lay back against my pillows. “You wouldn’t dare.”

“Oh, but I would. I’m especially fond of using my fingers to get what I want. And when that doesn’t work,” his voice is low, husky, “my tongue tends to do the job.”

I giggle as I lift my feet into the air. “Don’t forget the holy water for your filthy mind.”

“I’m afraid that won’t help.”

“Why not?” I bite my lip.

“If I had to show you why then you wouldn’t be asking me that. "

I swallow nervously. “So, you left early.”

“I know,” he says. “I didn’t want to, but work is nuts. My dad is ranting at the office. I have to skip classes today.”

“Will I see you later on?” I know I sound too eager, but I can’t help but want to see him again.

I place my phone on the loudspeaker and leave it on my bed as I go over to my closet to pick an outfit for the day.

The question must have caught Hudson off guard because he stays silent on the line for a few seconds.

I glance over at the phone expectantly. My heart beats a little faster against my chest.

“Oh, I don’t know. I might be busy later on because I’ll be meeting some of my friends,” he explains.

I swallow my disappointment down and try not to misinterpret his response as an excuse for not wanting to spend time with me. It’s ridiculous for me to want to spend more time with him when he has other things to do. More importantly, other social circles to see to.
