“You’re not my boyfriend,” I say in a defensive tone, with my heart racing against my chest.

Great explanation for why you were with another guy!

“But I did sleep with you. What do you think we were doing? Playing games with each other?” His voice rises. “Let’s have sex and see other people.”

“How did you even know I was there? Were you following me?”

He takes a step towards me and I take one back. “I did follow you. I came to your apartment to apologise, but you were leaving so I just followed you instead. And then I saw you with him.”

“You had no right to do that.” My voice wavers as he walks towards me. “You had no right to follow me.”

“And you had every right to be there with him in that fucking club, huh?!” His voice is thunderous. “It’s like you want to complicate things when they’re not complicated.”

Hudson grabs my arms and I flinch as he holds me close to him, his dark green eyes filled with anger. “Do you want to drive me crazy, Parker? I don’t think you do. I thought I made it clear enough that you and I have something. I love you! Can’t you see that?”

I can feel the heat grow in my eyes as his grip tightens. “Were you going to fuck him?”

“You’re being unfair!” I try to wriggle free from his grip, but he towers over me, nostrils flaring and his venomous green eyes enraged.

“WERE YOU GOING TO FUCK HIM?”

His grip is so tight that my arms begin to hurt from the pressure of his fingers.

“No!” I cry out. “No, I wasn’t!”

He suddenly lets go of me and walks away.

The rumble of the thunder is loud as the sky darkens outside and the light patter of rain grows stronger as the glass wall looking over Manhattan mists and the city lights below are blurred by the large drops of water splattered across the surface.

“I couldn’t stand to see him touching you all over,” Hudson whispers as he stares outside. “I wanted to…”

My heart thuds in my ears as I stand there silently unsure of what to do or say. “I’m sorry,” I finally tell him, my voice trembling. “I wasn’t going to do anything.”

He turns around and walks over to me, lifting his hand to my face, before lightly stroking my bottom lip with his thumb. “It’s fine. There won’t be a next time for another apology or mistake. I know that you’re a good girl inside, Parker.”

Hudson brings his face down and kisses me. It’s a strong, fierce kiss with a different kind of rush that travels through me and awakens the fire once again deep within my belly. His fingers brush against my neck as he brings me closer.

“Wanna get something to eat?” he asks, abruptly pulling away from me. “How does pizza sound? You must be starving.”

And just like that, it’s as if someone hit a switch on and the calm and collected Hudson is back in the room, walking over to the panel and ordering dinner.

Something isn’t right.

Girls Night

Parker

“Spring Break?”

“Yeah,” Hudson says on his end of the line. “What are you doing then?”

“I don’t know. I usually spend the break with my parents,” I tell him as I prep a kale and apple salad with my phone nestled in between my shoulder and ear.

Lex is on the couch doing her nails with her Arabian Coffee and Argan oil facemask on while an episode of The Simpsons plays in the background. It’s been a while since we’ve done a proper girls night.

“Would you like to spend it with me, instead? It won’t be just us though. It would be with a few other people from the frat and sorority houses.” His voice is low.
