Finally, he lowers his lips to mine. They’re warm and dry. His mustache brushes my Cupid’s bow as he kisses me slowly, pressing his lips across mine. Small, light kisses like Christmas wishes. I close my eyes, concentrating on his mouth. Thinking about the fact that this gorgeous guy is kissing me. And that he wants to take me to bed.

He lifts his head, and I open my eyes to see him giving me an amused look. “Don’t forget to breathe,” he says.

I let out my breath in a rush. “You didn’t use your tongue.”

“I didn’t want to send you running for the hills.”

“But you do normally?”

His brows draw together. “That phrase makes me uncomfortable. I’m not Casanova. I don’t ‘normally’ do anything. I’ve not done this before.”

“Done what?”

“Tried to seduce a girl who’s like a rabbit in the headlights.”

“I’m sorry.”

“Okay, rule number one, let’s concentrate on me and you. Forget about everyone else. And rule number two, no apologizing. You’re nervous. That’s okay. We’ll take it slow. Take our time.” His eyes have acquired that lazy, sleepy look again.

“You’re thinking about me naked, aren’t you?” I ask.

“Well, yeah. That’s sort of part of the process.”

“I don’t know if I can do this.”

He tries not to laugh, and fails. “You want another G&T?”

“No.”

“You want me to go?”

“Oh my God, no, absolutely not. Can I think about you naked?”

“Oh yes. You can undress me with your eyes, if you like.” He smiles.

“My heart’s racing,” I admit.

“It’s supposed to.”

“Is yours?”

“Of course.” He takes my hand and presses it to his chest. Sure enough, I can feel his heartbeat, maybe not as fast as mine, but still faster than it should be considering we’re sitting down.

“You’re sure about this?” I say hesitantly. “I’m not joking, I really am clueless. I mean, obviously, I’ve seen actors do it, and watched a bit of porn, but it’s hard to know how real it is.” I glare at him. “Don’t laugh.”

“Sorry. You’re a very unusual girl.”

“Why?”

He shakes his head. “Look, I’m not an expert.”

“Oh, I’m pretty sure that’s a lie.”

“I’m really not. But I promise I’ll do my best to educate you.”

I narrow my eyes. “You’re making fun of me.”

“A little. Do you want me to ask reception if they have a whiteboard?”
