But I couldn’t.

I already had enough on my own plate.

Whatever was happening here wasn’t my problem.

The door closed, leaving Angelica Ares to slip away…like a gazelle bounding away from a lion. I turned my head, seeing that deadly stare fixed on the door—for now, at least. How long she avoided the menacing Ares sons was another matter altogether.

“You’ll contact me if you need anything?” I offered.

He didn’t look away from that closed door. “I appreciate the offer. But we take care of our own.”

A chill raced along my spine, so I gave a nod and headed toward the door.

He didn’t follow, just continued to stare at the door where his adopted sister had left like he was contemplating spilling a little more blood. I shook my head as I yanked the front door closed.

The Ares daughter wasn’t my problem.

God knows I had enough of my own.

Beep.

I grabbed my phone, swiped my thumb across the screen, and looked at the message.

Caleb Banks: Ryth isn’t well…she wants to see Vivienne. Make it happen, London.

Make it happen.

I strode toward my car in the driveway, knowing I’d avoided for long enough telling Vivienne her sister was back. “Shit,” I grumbled as I yanked open the driver’s door and climbed in.

I typed out a response:

I’m on it.

THIRTY-FIVE

Vivienne

London was the father…

I stared at the kitchen counter, replaying the moment it had hit me. My pulse skipped, then raced. Twins…as in two babies were inside me. Two babies. Two fathers. How in the hell had that happened? The water sloshed in the glass in my hand.

“You okay?”

I jerked my head upwards, finding Carven standing in the doorway staring intently at me. I forced a smile. “Fine.”

He scowled, then shook his head, moving around the counter toward me. “Can’t lie to me, Wildcat.”

I shook my head, then stopped. I guess there was one thing I couldn’t do with the men I lived with and that was to hide my feelings. “I’m numb, if I’m honest.”

He stopped in front of me. “Why? Has it got two heads or something? What did the doc say?”

He didn’t know.

“I—I’m pregnant,” I started.

“That we already know, Wildcat.”

“With two babies.”
