Though he sure the heck is someone who can use an image polishing.

Still, why does it have to be him?

I glance up at Ms. Garcia, and she, completely unaware I have a problem with this, says, “We feel Mr. Harrington is an excellent choice since you and he both worked for the Blackhawks.”

I plaster on a big fake smile and nod.

What can I say?“No, I can’t do this?”

Certainly not.

So, smiling wide and bright, I tell Ms. Garcia, “Yeah, we did. This is so great.”

Great?

Ha, far from it!

But if I value my job—and I certainly do—I better find a way to make this work.

Hayden

Ileave my house early in the morning on Tuesday to head down to the arena for practice. And, as I’m backing my rental SUV out of the garage, I glance over at the house next to mine.

Huh, interesting.

The same beige sedan that was there throughout the weekend is parked once again out in the driveway. Though the car isn’t always outside, as there is a garage, clearly someone has moved in next to me.

Like Arden said at lunch, I just hope I have a good neighbor.

Then again, it probably doesn’t matter. I’ve yet to see anyone, so the person must be as busy as I am.

Perfect.

Practice is set to end today at eleven, and then I have an appointment with one of the Thunder’s consultants on the player image development team. I was told we’ll be heading out to a season ticket holder’s house to deliver his digital ticket package. It’ll be like a meet-and-greet type of thing.

I was notified late yesterday about the event, and also that I’ll be working with this consultant person quite a bit.

I guess the team is looking to rehabilitate my image.

That’s okay. I’m on board with that. If I do end up as the first-line center, I’ll pretty much be the face of the team.

So, yeah, I need to get this right and play along with whatever the Thunder organization wants.

I just have one hope—that my consultant is cool.

I have another stellar practice, spending most of my time working with Arden and Nils again on the top line.

Though he tries not to show it, I can tell Coach is impressed with my performance. Arden and Nils are happy too.

During our cool-down time on the ice, Nils, skating next to me, says, “Dude, we like Finn, but youhaveto be with us on the top line. There’s just no comparison.”

“That’s what I want,” I assure him. “And I’m going to continue to do everything I can to make sure it happens.”

I know that means behaving off the ice too.

I can get started on that today.

Yeah, I plan to represent the Thunder in the best way possible for this upcoming fan event.
