Cleaning up after dinner, Allee had playfully splashed Noah with soapy water, soaking his shirt, and then watched him, absolutely mesmerised, as he'd pulled it off over his head, tossing it to one side, his eyes blazing with heat. Her eyebrow had twitched, a dozen X-rated thoughts blazing through her mind, and she'd smiled coyly, gliding past him, her fingers deftly moving down the front of her top, unbuttoning it, before shrugging it from her shoulders.

Pausing in the hallway to turn and face Noah, noticing his eyes glued to her, Allee had put her hands to the ties of her wrap-around pants, slowly and deliberately unlacing them, until they too had landed on the floor. Stepping away from the clothing pooled at her feet, standing there clad only in a chocolate lace half-cup bra and matching G-string, Noah’s gaze had locked on her body, roving up and down, hunger and need turning his eyes a stormy grey. They were new, and Allee had never worn a G-string before, but if the look in Noah's eyes were any indication, she'd be buying several more. Watching his chest heave as he'd struggled for control, she could also tell by the bulge in his jeans that he was aroused. She'd reached behind her back, undoing the clasp of her bra, and that had been the end of Noah's control. He had leapt forward, swept Allee into his arms, and carried her into the bedroom.

Now they were relaxing in the tub, Allee encircled in Noah’s arms, letting the heat and movement of the water massage their muscles, washing away the last hour’s exertions, with Noah lightly tracing his fingertips over Allee's shoulders and collarbones.

“Noah, what was it that you said earlier when we were outside?”

Noah closed his eyes, unseen by Allee, and seemed to reach a decision.

“When you said Piddle would never want to leave, I said I hoped that she wasn't the only one. I don't want to put any pressure on you, sweetheart, and I'm not about to ask you to move in, but I'm glad you're here. I'm glad you're both here.”

Allee blushed and rested her head against Noah's shoulder, looking up at him and giving him a full view of her naked body.

“I'm delighted we're both here with you as well.”

Noah's eyes roved down her body, and she felt him begin to stir again. She rolled over in the water, so she was pressed against him, bumping his nose with hers.

“Are we done in here?”

Noah grinned, flicking a switch on the side of the spa, and the water was suddenly still. He pushed another button, and the metal plug popped up, draining the water out of the tub.

“Yep, we're all done.” He hauled Allee further up to kiss her before helping her out of the spa, wrapping her in a soft towel, and leading her to the bedroom.

Allee woke up, her senses registering several things simultaneously; the difference in the fabric of the bedsheets, the way the sunlight streamed across her face, and the smell of coffee, bacon, eggs, and toast wafting to her nostrils. Allee's eyes opened to see Noah standing in the doorway, a tray in his hands, wearing jeans and a black t-shirt with a picture of a spiral galaxy, along with tiny lettering. As he stepped forward, his bare feet silent on the wooden floorboards, she made out what it said and laughed.

“I ‘rock your small, self-centred universe’, do I?”

“If you didn't, do you think I'd be bringing you breakfast in bed?” Noah grinned. He placed the tray on the bedside nearest to Allee, and she could see a mug of coffee, a plate holding crispy bacon, scrambled eggs, toast, mushrooms, and grilled tomato, as well as a bowl of sliced peaches.

“Is all this for me?” Allee couldn't believe it. Before she could say anything, Piddle leapt onto the centre of the bed, stridently protesting the unfairness that Allee should get bacon, whereas she had only been given cat kibble. She sat at the end of the bed, between Allee's feet and stared, her gaze steady and unblinking, accusation clear in her eyes. Allee laughed and shook her head before patting a spot on the bed next to her. “Okay, Pids, you can have some of my bacon, but only as a special treat! Come on, come to Mumma!”

Piddle rose and carefully picked her way over Allee's leg before sauntering over to the spot Allee had patted. She sat down, her eyes glued to Allee’s hand. She picked up some bacon, pulling a piece off, before offering it to the cat. Piddle sniffed the bacon, looked at Allee, then looked up at Noah. Her satisfied gaze resting on him, she gently took the crisp, salty offering, then wolfed it down as if she'd been starved. Her eyes turning into slits, Allee could almost see the indulgent smirk as purrs rumbled from Piddle.

Allee popped the remaining piece of bacon into her mouth, crunching down, her eyes rolling back in her head in pleasure, “I love bacon! It truly is the food of the Gods!”

Noah chuckled, glad to see his efforts were appreciated.

“Well, eat up, I've got plans for today, and it's too beautiful to spend cooped up inside, no matter how tempting my company might be.”

“Really? Where are we going?”

“That's a surprise. Now come on, eat your breakfast, and once you're ready, we'll go!”

Tucking into her breakfast with vigour, she was intrigued as to what Noah had planned.

Once they were in the car, Allee had been curious as Noah had made his way southbound on the Mount Lindesay Highway, and she'd raised her eyebrows in question when they'd turned off. Noah had simply smiled, occasionally remarking about inconsequential matters. Driving up into the Gold Coast hinterland, they approached a small town towards the top when Noah had surprised Allee with a revelation.

“I grew up here,” he said. Allee had looked around, taking in the scenery. “This is where I went to school and where my parents still live.” They'd crossed over a creek, and Noah had pointed to the school on their right. “Funnily enough, my Grade One teacher still works there, and I catch up with her every now and again.”

As Allee had looked around at the main street eagerly, Noah parked in a space by a cafe.

“Tell me about growing up here? What's the name of the town again?”

“Canungra. It used to be the Jungle Warfare Training Centre for the Army before they relocated up to Tully. Some of my best friends had parents who were stationed here, and I used to love getting postcards from the various places around Australia whenever their posting changed.”

Noah had opened Allee's door, and arm-in-arm they had walked down the street, with Noah talking about his childhood, about the history of the town, and how it had changed over the years. Strolling towards the school, walking past the bowling green, Noah guided her towards a bakery. Entering, Noah had boasted that Flesser’s had some of the best cakes he'd ever tasted. Allee had reserved her judgement, as she'd eaten at the famous Beechworth Bakery in the past, but as they'd sat down outside with their coffee and cake, Allee had to agree that Flesser’s had Beechworth beat hands down.

For a few minutes, they'd sat in silence, and then Allee broached the question that had been burning in her mind ever since they'd arrived and Noah had announced that he'd grown up here.
