“I signed a six-month lease. It’s not up until the end of November. I don’t know if I want to break the lease if I don’t have to, even with Stuart lurking around. Plus, what would we do with all of my furniture?”

“Well, I’ve been thinking about that. I have plans to convert the garage, possibly opening up downstairs some more, making a larger lounge space, maybe even putting in another bedroom as well. I could add your office to mine or build another office for both of us.” Noah’s fingers absently stroked Allee’s skin. “With the extra lounge space downstairs, your couches would fit in easily. I still don’t have a dining table, and to be honest, most of my appliances could do with an update. I can always sell my half of whatever we’ve doubled up on. I know a few people that might be looking for stuff soon because they’re gonna be moving.”

Allee shifted back to look at Noah’s face. “You’re really serious about this, aren’t you? You’ve thought about this. It’s not just a spur-of-the-moment idea, is it?”

“Honestly, I’ve been mulling it over ever since you spent that first weekend, and since this clusterfuck with Stuart, it’s only cemented how I feel. Piddle already knows the place, she loves her cat run, and I already told you that I hadn’t finished with the reno’s. It’s big enough for the three of us, including Pids. I bought it fully intending to raise a family there. I’ve never been so glad that Michelle fucked me over the way she did because it meant that I was unattached when you came along. You fill up my heart and my life, but you could also fill my house as well.”

Allee snorted at that last statement, Noah’s crooked grin bringing forth one of her own.

“I’ll admit, it’s a tempting offer. I’m not saying no; I’m saying not yet. Let me think about it?”

“Of course. I can wait, I just don’t want to be sitting here still waiting in another twelve months if we haven’t been able to resolve the issues with the arsehole by then.”

Allee shuddered at the thought. Having to deal with Stuart terrorising her for another year was enough to make her ill.

“I promise I’ll have an answer for you soon, but it’s doubtful I’ll be moving in before the end of November, at the earliest. Will you be okay with that?”

“It’s up to you,” Noah huffed. “I know I’m an impatient bastard. I hate the thought of not being able to hold you every night while we sleep, of you not being in my space, curled up on the couch, or making dinner together. Besides, I know I’ll have Pids on my side, she can give you the dirty looks and cold shoulder if it’s gonna be more than a couple of months.”

Allee rolled her eyes before rolling off Noah’s chest, moving towards her en suite to prepare for the day. “Yes, yes, our lives are ruled by our fluffy overlord... over-lady... our fluffy dictator. I’m sure she’d already have us packed and moved by the end of this weekend if it was up to her.” Allee paused. “How is she? I know you give me daily updates and pictures, but, how is she?”

“She startles a little if I come to her from her left, as she can’t see me, but she’s still as affectionate as ever, when the drugs allow it. She knows where she is, she knows who I am, and she knows she’s safe. I think she misses you, though, because whenever I walk in the door, she comes to me, looks at me, looks behind me, then back at me, and gives me a look as if to say, ‘Where’s my Mum?’ She then yowls at me for a good ten minutes as if I’m being told off for not bringing you with me.”

Allee laughed as she turned the shower on, stepping inside once the water had warmed sufficiently. She turned her back as Noah headed to the toilet.

“Don’t you dare flush that while I’m in here!” Alee warned him. She turned as she heard the toilet lid close, just in time to see Noah smirk as he pressed the button, and she shrieked as her previously warm shower turned icy cold.

Chapter Twenty-Four

A soft chiming broke through Allee’s dreams, pulling her back to consciousness. She stretched out, a sated smile on her face as her feet lightly brushed against Noah’s shins. The launch had been a roaring success. She had heard back from Sammy that the all-night LAN party had also been highly popular, and word back from the moderators on the forums was that the players were ecstatic with the new release.

Yawning, Allee glanced over to her phone as it chimed once more. She frowned slightly; although the sun had begun to rise, it was still that low dusky light of dawn. Who would be texting her at this time in the morning? Grabbing her phone, she saw that she had several unread messages. As Allee opened the first text, her heart froze.

Fucking slut. Opening your legs to anyone to use your gaping cunt.

Allee’s stomach churned, her gorge rising, with droplets of sweat dotting her forehead and lip.

After all I did. I made you, and this is how you repay me?

The next message was followed by a picture that had been taken through her windows. It was an image of her and Noah the last night, after they’d showered. They had ventured downstairs for some ‘extras’ to use in bed, clothed only in towels. The picture showed her trying to pull off Noah’s towel as he was batting her hands away with one of his, the other reaching towards her. They were both laughing, and Allee would love the intimacy and happiness the photo depicted in any other circumstance. However, knowing that Stuart had been there watching them, had taken that image and invaded her privacy, made her want to vomit.

“Noah, wake up.” her throat was tight, making her voice sound strange.

Noah groaned, stretching his own arms towards her, grasping at Allee’s waist to pull her back into his chest to snuggle.

“Too early. C’mere, go back to sleep.”

“I need you to wake up, please.”

The fear in Allee’s voice roused Noah into alertness. “What’s happened? What’s the matter?”

Allee passed Noah her phone, displaying the message thread, just as another one pinged and appeared on the screen.

When I get my hands on you, you’ll beg me to repeat that lesson from last year. You never fucking learn, you dumb cunt!

“What do I do?”

“You do nothing, sweetheart, “Noah turned to Allee, stroking her pale face with a warm and steady hand. “You don’t react to this shit. We’ll go to the police, and they should be able to deal with him. Get dressed, and we’ll make a plan.”
