“What do you mean?” Mananan asked, his fingers stroking hers.

“Chrissy told me how the Fomorian mage created the monsters that attacked her in the forest. What if the same mage is using the creature to do his bidding?" she said.

Bayn rubbed at his chin. “I went searching for any sign of the mage around your lighthouse and I couldn’t find anything.”

“Doesn’t mean he wasn’t there,” Taranis replied. His eyes refocused. “We can worry about the mage later. We know where the altars are, so we sort those out first. Cut off the bastard’s magic supply and weaken him. With any luck, it will make him so mad that he reveals himself.”

Mananan wanted to stay curled up with Ella in bed all day, but he knew that he wouldn’t be able to relax until his part of the prophecy was done with. Then he would claim her every day for a month.

“Chrissy is coming back today to keep Ella company and to try out some exercises with magic,” Taranis said. He reached into his bag and passed Ella a vial of red liquid. “I made this for you. It will temporarily enhance your power and clear away some of the psychic blocks that could be dampening your access to magic. Don’t take it until you’re ready to. Chrissy will help show you some things first.”

Ella accepted the vial with a smile. “You were serious about the training.”

“Of course I am. Why would I let such talent go to waste?” Taranis replied. He winked at Mananan. In his current manic state, that wink could mean just about anything.

“You better not be giving my woman hallucinogens,” Mananan said, his voice edging on a growl.

“Your woman, is it?” Taranis teased.

Mananan opened his mouth, but Ella beat him to it. “Yeah, I am. You have a problem with that?" she asked, her little chin rising stubbornly.

Gods, he loved her.

Taranis’s smile was sweeter than sugar. “No problem here. I only think you’re too good for him; that’s all.”

“Thanks, asshole,” Mananan replied and flipped him off. “You also didn’t answer my question about the contents of that potion.”

Taranis rolled his ruby eyes. “No, there is nothing in the potion that will make Ella high. It’s for when she wants it; that’s all. She might not need it. Chrissy didn’t with her power. Hers was enhanced when she mated with Oberon, so maybe that was enough of a boost to clear out the mental blocks.”

Ella must’ve sensed his unease because she leaned into Mananan to reassure him. “I won’t take it unless you’re here.”

Mananan squeezed her fingers gently and drained his coffee. “Okay, let’s go and get these altars sorted out. I know you’ve got something you’re dying to use, Taran.”

Killian grinned at Mananan with murderous trouble in his eyes. “Don’t worry, uncle. You’re going to love it too.”

The kitchen door banged open, and Imogen appeared, her ax over one shoulder and death magic in her eyes.

“All right, losers, I’m here. Let’s go,” she declared. Her eyes lit up when they saw Ella. “Oh, you’re awake! Look at how cute you are! You’re like a pocket size ma...gician.” She caught herself in time.

Mananan wanted to bang his head against the table.

“I’m bigger on the inside,” Ella said with a shrug. “You must be Imogen. Chrissy has told me about you.”

Imogen looked over her shoulder. “You been talking smack about me, Chris?”

“Only the truth, Ironwood. Ignore her, Ella. She’s rambunctious when she knows explosives and hunting are involved,” Chrissy replied, moving Imogen out of the way so she could get into the kitchen.

Taranis got out of his chair. “Imogen is my my kind of girl. You get the first bomb because you’re amazing.”

“Dagda save us. There’re two of them,” Mananan muttered.

Ella laughed as the kitchen became a scramble of chairs and voices. “It’s kind of nice. I’ve never had people around me like this.”

“They are always like this, Ella.Always.”

Mananan went to his rooms to retrieve Fragarach and cast a longing glance at the bed. Maybe a cold swim in the ocean would help him stop thinking of getting Ella’s gorgeous ass in the air again. He knew once she relaxed, she would be great in bed. She had so much passion in her that she’d been forced to smother her entire life. He couldn’t wait to turn her into an inferno.

“Think of hunting. Think of hunting,” he told himself and left the room before he got hard again.
