"I don't care. Just help her. And put your damn mental shields up. She’s got psychometry abilities, and it hurts her."

Ella still wasn't over the fact she'd felt or seen nothing when Mananan had touched her. His brother's brows shot up but didn't question it. Amazing. Every person she'd ever told thought she was full of shit. She tried to look at her leg again, but Mananan turned her face away, his touch feather light against her heated skin.

"Don't look at it, Ella," he demanded.

That left her looking at him, and she had complicated feelings about that.

"I'm just going to numb your leg. You might feel a cold sensation," Taranis said. There was a tingle of his fingers against her skin, and suddenly, glorious numbness spread through her. "Better?"

"Yes. Thanks," Ella replied, not taking her eyes off Mananan. He had his tattooed arms crossed over his impressive chest and was staring at her. It wasn't quite a glare, but it was something close to it. Somehow, she knew it wasn't because he was mad at her.

He had a good face for glaring too, she realized, with amazing cheekbones and a neat beard. He would have to be ancient but looked maybe as old as forty-five under the graying stubble.

"Here's the water," the other fae male said. He looked so much like a younger version of Mananan; she knew they had to be family.

"Your son?" she asked.

Mananan shook his head. "My nephew Bayn."

"Manan's single," Taranis piped up and shot her a wink. Ella turned red and hoped they all thought it was because of her fever.

Mananan's look became a cold, hard stare in his brother's direction. "Focus on what you're meant to be doing," he grumbled. He turned back to Ella. "I'm sorry. He has no manners. Why don't you tell me about your seer gifts?"

Ella frowned. "Why?"

"Because I might have need of you, and this will be the second time I've saved your life," Mananan replied. "You owe me."

Taranis tutted. "And I'm the one with no manners. Bayn? I'm going to need a bowl to put these eggs in."

"Eggs?!" Ella squeaked and tried sitting up again. Mananan's hand went to her shoulder pressing her down.

"Keep her calm. I'm almost done," Taranis said, not looking up. "Shit, get her heart rate down."

Mananan crouched down beside her. "Look at me, Ella. Everything is fine. Breathe with me. Don't look at Taran."

Ella shook her head. "It laid eggs in me?"

"Doesn't matter. Calm down, Ella." Mananan took her hand and pressed it to his chest. She felt a deep pump of his heartbeat. "Breathe with me." There was a snap of a command in his voice that had her attention going back to him.

She took a shaky breath. He held her hand to his chest, forcing her to sync with him. Tears filled her eyes, and she tried to blink them away. It was the longest she had touched someone since Deidra had died. Oh gods, that made her cry even more.

Mananan didn't seem to notice or care. He just held her hand and kept breathing until she was forced to calm down. There was something weirdly hypnotic about his gaze that made her unable to look away.

"There you go. In and out," he said softly. "Now, tell me about your gifts. Is it just reading objects and people?"

"No. I am pretty good at scrying. Sometimes I can see ghosts," she replied.

"All of that and a lighthouse keeper? That must keep you busy. Do you have anyone else that helps out here? A husband or a wife?" he asked.

Ella shook her head. "No. Just me and the sea. I have been thinking about getting a dog."

Mananan smiled a little. "Probably a good idea. It's not good to be all alone out here."

"It is safer to be alone sometimes," she said.

It was probably the strangest thing that had ever happened to her. Three fae males, all hovering about her house, wasn't how she expected that day to go.

"What did you mean by you need a seer?" she asked.
