Jacob lifted his glass in acknowledgment right before the reporter asked a question that he would love to hear Brook answer.

"...wondering if you are at all worried that your brother might come after you? I mean, he killed your neighbor in cold blood. He was right next door. It could have easily been you."

"No," Brook replied softly. "Not at all."

Jacob couldn't resist looking at the television screen, taking in the appearance of his baby sister. She was beautiful. She took after their mother, while he'd taken after their father.

"Is there anything you would like to say to your brother, just in case Jacob Walsh is watching this interview?"

"Again, my answer is no." The right side of Brook's lips curled in what could only be termed as dismissal as she looked directly at the camera. "Why would I waste my time? I'm in a good place, and I won't allow what my brother is to affect me any longer. I guess you could say my life isperfectright now."

Colin was saying something about his new condo, but Jacob's hearing had dimmed with a rush of blood forcing its way through them after hearing his baby sister's infuriating words.

She was taunting him.

She was throwing his words back in his face.

And that was something he wouldn't tolerate.
