I pick up my boxing gloves but then change my mind and put them back inside my bag. I’ll just hit it with my bare hands.

My knuckles are bloodied as I hit the bag over and over, taking out all my aggression and the shame I feel for not being able to protect my family.

Two hours later, I’ve tamed the beast for a while.

I sit on the bench and rummage through my bag in search of my phone, but I can’t find it. Then I recall leaving it back at my warehouse.

I’ve got to remember that we don’t need phones, we have our mind link back.“How’s Kat doing?”

“Fuck, you scared me,”Benji says, and I chuckle. It’s a little daunting when you can hear someone other than you and your wolf in your head, can’t believe this used to be the norm for us. Now it freaks us out when we hear each other in our head. It sucked when we lost our connection, but when cell phones became popular, it was a good replacement. I guess now we don’t have to worry about leaving our phones behind anymore.“She’s been in and out of it, but she ate.”

“How are her eyes?”Seeing them more vibrant was a sure shock. I can’t get it out of my head that I’ve actually seen those eyes before. I’ll have to talk to the guys and see if it looks familiar to them too.

“Still glowing violet,”Ash answers. I wonder if it’s going to go away or if it’ll linger now that she’s unlocked the power within herself.

I take a shower in the bathroom gym, get dressed quickly, and go back to my warehouse.

My mind is clearer now, and I’m ready to dig into everything that’s been going on. I go to my desk and sit down. I log onto the computer to start making connections. There’s something here I haven’t figured out yet, but I intend to.

Krissy was sleeping with Theo, and they both knew Dante, which means Theo has to be a supernatural—even if we don’t know what kind.

When Theo came here, we never speculated about him being supernatural, probably because Krissy was helping him hide his scent and his power. Krissy was way too powerful. If there was anyone that could mask a scent, it would be Krissy.

And then it hits me.

“Oh shit!”

Their friendship wasn’t a coincidence. Dante didn’t know shit about Theo being a supernatural. He only thought Krissy was a witch, but Krissy never told on Theo. Was it because Krissy loved Theo, or did they have a pact? I do remember Krissy talking out loud about how he couldn’t do this.

Was she talking about Theo? It has to be. It’s the only thing that makes sense.

“Now the real question is, who the hell is Theo, and why would he hide being a supernatural? Does he know what Kat is? If he does, is that the reason he wants to have custody of the kids?”

“I’mgoingtocallTheo,” Kat says, slowly looking around the table. I think she thinks we’re going to object, and I want to, but I also want to see what Theo is going to say. She searches her pockets for her phone.

“No, not yet.” She whips her head around, ready to chew me out. “Tyler needs to set up the equipment to track his phone.” She thinks about it for a moment and nods her head in agreement.

“Plus, your phone is in your room anyway,” I add. That makes her stop looking.

“I need to get it to make sure no one calls about the kids.” She stands back up.

“All your calls and messages have been forwarded to Tyler’s phone,” I say, and she sits back down. Ash can see everything on her phone anyway, but when I see him staring daggers at me to keep my mouth shut, I don’t say what I’m thinking out loud.

“Oh, and I guess Ash can see everything I see anyway,” Ash flinches. Serves him right for being a snoop.

“We need to get you checked out.” Benji switches the conversation trying to diffuse any situation that would have arrived. He looks down on his phone, reading his message. “Doc and Amara are here.” He stands up from the chair.

Finally, I need to know my mate will be okay.

“I’m fine.” Kat sits back on her seat folding her arms like a stubborn child. “I don’t need to be seen—I just need my kids back.” Her leg bouncing up and down is the only indication that she’s anything butfine.

“That’s what we’re working on, but first we need to make sure you aren’t going to collapse on us again.” Ash folds his arms too, mimicking her position. It does nothing but irritate her. The corner of her eye twitches like she wants a fight.

Ash won’t budge on this. We have no idea what it means now that she used The Kiss of Death on herself, and her eyes haven’t turned brown since.
