“I had to make sure that clue is legit and—I think it is.” Tyler walks back to his chair and slumps down on it like revealing this information has tipped him over the edge in exhaustion.

“Where was my invite?” Benji narrows his eyes at Tyler.

“The more people that stayed with Kat the better. I didn’t want to take anyone else. But if you guys are really worried, I took Matt with me.”

My eyes swing over to Matt, and he gives us a little wave and smile before he goes back to whatever he was doing on the computer.

“We should go check it out,” I say eagerly. It’ll give me something to do while Tyler can figure out where the hell my ex-husband is hiding my kids.

My wolf spits on the ground in anger at the thought of Theo holding them hostage.

“We should go find him now! We need to find our kids,”she shouts in my head, baring her teeth, saliva dripping from her canines, and I know she’s at her limit.

“I want that too, but you heard Tyler. He has no leads. He’ll mess up though, and once he does, we will be ready,”I reason, trying to calm her down.

My wolf gets antsy, and I know I have to let her out of her cage soon. She hasn’t been able to run freely, but I’m scared that if I do, I won’t switch back to being human until we’ve found our kids.

“And why is that a bad thing?”she asks in a harsh tone.

“Because you don’t think before you act,”I snap back.

“Again, why is that a bad thing?”She tilts her head in confusion.

It’s no use fighting with her; she won’t get it. So I ignore her for now, and she goes back to pacing restlessly.

Matt gets up from his seat. “This is the address of the place where it’s rumored she’s being kept. Our source was scared shitless of Tyler, so I have no doubt that he gave us the information he believes to be correct.” He hands the paper to Ash as he inspects it.

“It’s two hours from here,” Tyler says, as he comes from behind me and grabs my waist. My body leans into his easily. “We’ll find them, Kat,” he murmurs into my ear. I just want it to happen now. I hate waiting, I hate Theo for kidnapping my kids, and I hate the fact that my power was hidden. My whole body vibrates in agreement.

I want to shut down and cry, but I have to be strong. There is no time to waste energy on crying. If I fall apart, I don’t think I’ll be able to get back up, and that’s not what my kids need. They need a mom to stand up and fight.

“Az, can you send our people to this location and scope it out before we get there. We leave tonight unless we find a new lead on the kids.” Ash gets into his role easily, directing people where to go.

Matt comes up to me. “Hey Lu—uh, Kat. Can I talk to you for a second?” I look around, but the guys are keeping busy.

I walk just outside of the warehouse, and Matt walks next to me. I wonder what he has to say to me that he didn’t want any of my guys to hear. Is it serious? I look at his face briefly, and he looks like he’s having a hard time putting what he wants to say into words.

If I’m going to be part of this community, I can’t be afraid of what people bring up. “What’s going on?” I ask him gently. I don’t want to spook him, after all, this is the first time we’ve had a solo conversation.

“I-I uh, just wanted to apologize for hacking into your phone. Ash made me do it, and well, he’s my alpha. I really can’t say no to him.”

A bead of sweat trickles from his brow, he’s nervous about what I’m going to say. “You’re going to be our Lu—uh, leader, and I don’t want you to think you can’t trust me.”

I smile, hopefully portraying the warmth and comfort I feel toward the betas. “I completely understand why you had to do it. I may not have liked the reasoning, but Ash was just watching over his pack, and he didn’t trust me at the time. I’ve already forgotten about this.”

“Are you sure?” he asks skeptically, looking down at the ground in submission, and it makes me feel sort of awkward.

I move to stand right in front of him, and when he looks up, I envelop him in a hug. “It’s fine, Matt. I’m not upset and it’s also fine to call me Luna. I know the guys are afraid to throw a lot at me at once, but I’m okay with the formal title, Kat is also okay.” He hugs me back. We let go and he walks back inside.

Once we leave Tyler’s warehouse, I message Theo to see if he responds. But it’s been two hours and I get nothing. By now he probably already threw that number out.

“I’ll find you, Theo,” I promise out loud. I’ll stop at nothing to find him.

Chapter nineteen

Benji

Inmystoragefacility,I’m putting together grenades for tonight. The three other guys and I are careful with them, making sure we don’t drop them, or else that would be the end of us.
