We don’t have a concrete plan for the ambush. Ash is relying on Kat to use her powers and get them to do what she wants. It’s actually a good idea, I just don’t know if my mate will perform well under pressure or if she’ll stall when the time comes. I hate that we put her in the center of it without proper planning, but I know she wants to help, and she won’t be left behind.

If that idea tanks, it’s a good thing we have our magic back. We can take out so many people with our power. If all else fails, my bombs surely won’t. I pack the last one neatly in my case.

“I need you guys in my office,”Ash tells us through our link.

“On my way,”I reply as I grab my suitcase and head out the back door of my storage facility.

When I walk into the office, Tyler, Az, and Kat are all here along with Ash and our betas.

“This is your last chance to back out,” Tyler tells Kat. They’re both sitting next to each other opposite of Ash’s desk. It looks like they’ve been having this conversation for a while based on the frustrated glances she throws his way.

“I’m going,” she says with finality. Since the kids were kidnapped, I’m afraid to admit that I actually want her to be with us. But at the same time, we’re going on a dangerous mission, and she may be safer here. It’s a tough situation and my brothers see it too.

“Alright, everyone ready?” Ash asks. We all have on black tactical gear. It’s easier to hide in the dark, plus it’s comfy, and we can throw some punches if we need to. I glance at Tyler, and he looks like he can use a punching bag right about now.

We haven’t done this in a long time. It brings back memories, both good and bad. We work so well as a team together, I’m curious to see if we still got it.

“Oh, we still got it,”my wolf says.

We leave the house as a van pulls up. Joseph, another beta, is on the driver’s side.

Kat’s eyes trail the vehicle. “I’ve never seen this one before. Where do you keep it?”

“We’ve got a different location outside of our property where we store them. We use it for situations like this.” Kat’s eyebrows raise.

“Well that’s probably a good idea. Don’t want to lead anybody to your property.” She nods in understanding and clutches her backpack closer. I know she has her weapon in there. She carries it everywhere, which is good. I never want her to be without it.

“Damn right,” I respond as I open the door and she steps inside. I go in after her, carrying the suitcase on my lap. I don’t trust anyone but myself with this.

Az sits in the back passenger side while Ash and Tyler sit in the seat in front of us. When Ash closes the door, Joseph starts driving.

Kat looks behind us. “We have a group of guys following us.” I don’t tell her it’s for her. She might fight us on this if she knew we brought them just to keep an eye on her. If anything on this mission goes wrong, they’ll take her back to our place.

Everyone is silent the whole way there. Kat looks out the window. I can sense she’s full of nerves, not only because we haven’t found the location of where Theo is with the kids, but because she might potentially be getting some answers about who she is.

Two hours later Joseph says, “We’re here.”

We come to a complete stop. I’m kind of shocked when I look up at the tall building. It looks to have thirty stories. I actually was expecting something out in the middle of nowhere. This place is surrounded by many big businesses.

If there is something here, then whoever came up with this place is smart to hide it in plain sight.

It’s late enough that some of the windows in the building are dark, and people have left work for the night.

There are two guards outside. It’s the only building that has any visible security.

I find myself wanting to laugh. With our powers and Kat’s, no one can hold us back.

We park a couple buildings down, and the rest of our team parks right behind us.

“Last chance to back out,” I whisper to Kat. “We won’t be upset. Actually, we’d be relieved.” I smile innocently.

She narrows those deep violet eyes on me. “I’m going, and that’s final.” She scoots to the front to prove her point.

Ash looks behind me, and I shake my head. He sighs but there’s nothing we can do. If she wants to go, that’s her choice.

We climb out of the van, and as we get near the building, Tyler says, “Act like you’re drunk and make as much commotion as you can.”

We laugh loudly and stumble every few steps. “Hey, get out of here. This is private property,” the security guard with the red hat says.
