“Uh, Tyler, who gave you this clue?” Az says, his piercing blue eyes staring at my brother.

He leans against the wall before answering. “It was Silas.” I watch as Kat’s eyes grow huge in surprise. “Not only that, but this is the place I tracked the camera to when Az and Kat went into the tattoo shop.”

My brothers and I start shouting at once. “What the fuck, Tyler?”

“You know not to trust that man.” We know never to trust him. He’s the one that exploited our weaknesses to get us to work for the council.

“I know, I know, but he said that there might be something in here to help us find the lady with violet eyes, and I had to take the chance.”

“Did you meet up with Silas last night?” Az questions. His jaw clenches tightly as he pulls out his knife and twirls it between his fingers.

“No, it was a guy who owed me a favor. I scared the shit out of him using our power, so I know he wasn’t lying. He deals in secrets. I asked him if he knew of this place, and when he said yes, I asked him who owned it. He told me someone from the council, but he didn’t know the person’s name. I tripled checked by having my buddy Agent Cooper check into this and was given the same information. ”

“No sign of our kids,” Ash answers Kat as her eyes flick rapidly over each computer screen. She visibly deflates, but based on her posture, she’s relieved that they’re not being used for science experiments. I just hope they’re not somewhere much worse.

Kat watches Az carefully. She doesn’t know much about his past. She stands right in front of him, but it’s as if he isn’t registering what’s going on. She places one hand gently on each side of his face. “Az,” she says in a soothing tone. “Look at me.” He drags his eyes back to her. “Let’s get out of here.”

“Hey! You aren’t supposed to be in here.” A guard appears in the doorway and points his pistol right at Kat.

I panic, and in one swift movement, I open my case, grab a grenade, release the pull pin and lever, and I throw it in his direction. My brothers don’t hesitate to move out of reach. The guy looks down at it, not really registering what it is, and when he does, he backs away, touching his head piece to communicate with someone. As he runs away, he tries to squeeze the trigger of his gun when the bomb goes off and body parts start flying. It was a small one, but it still shook the floor.

The ringing sound of the alarms going off is sensitive to my ears.

We’ve been found. “We need to get out of here, now!”

Chapter twenty

Az

Thealarmsareblazingthroughout the facility. A clear indication that whoever owns this place knows we’re here.

There is no way I’m leaving without knowing the location of those kids. I don’t care if they’re onto us. I’m not abandoning them to be science experiments. They look malnourished and who knows what else they’ve been through.

When I find the person who is doing this to them, I’m going to kill them.

“Tyler, call Matt and tell him to bring more vehicles.” We didn’t bring enough cars for them all. I don’t give a fuck if they have to steal them. Our guys are resourceful, they’ll find a way to get what we need.

“Already on it, brother. They’re on their way.” He knows me too well. He knew there was no way I’d be able to leave those children behind. Even if he didn’t have the same childhood, I know my brothers would never leave these kids behind.

Memories of my brutal childhood flash through my mind, and I push them back. I can deal with those thoughts later, just not right now. I need to focus on what’s in front of me. A group of five guards appear right in front of us with guns pointed straight at our heads.

We didn’t want to do this, we didn’t want to use our power on them, but we have no choice now. It’s either us or them, and it’s not going to be us.

“They deserve to die. They watched as kids were experimented on. We should make them pay and kill them all.”

“Ready,” Ash says, disrupting my wolf’s thoughts.

“Ready,” we say in unison. Less than a full second later, they’re screaming, holding on to their heads. Blood pours from their eyes as they roll back and fall to the floor.

“What the hell?” Kat shouts. “That’s your magic?” Oh no, we’ve scared her. I panic thinking she’ll leave us. I’ve just found her, and I can’t let her go. My hand trembles, and I grip my knife tightly. “That’s so freaking awesome.” She beams with admiration, and my body sags in relief.

“You’re one of them,” another guard says in disgust. He comes around the corner with a gun pointed at Kat. I’m not sure why he’d say that, maybe because we killed his friends. “You’ll be locked up and experimented on.”

Just as we suspected, this place is used to poke and probe those kids. I’m going to kill the person slowly, peeling off their flesh. I can already hear those sweet screams in my ear.

Does Silas know? If he does, then he deserves to be punished.

Everyone involved with this place deserves nothing less than a slow, painful death. The guard laughs like a maniac. “You’ll be killed by his hand.”
