Nothing.

I swallow hard. The heat of the sun tries to warm up my very cold body. I haven’t felt this cold since before I turned into a wolf.

I get on my knees, touching the soft texture of the vibrant grass. It’s like I’m seeing the world in a whole new light again, the way I did when I turned into a wolf and my vision became sharper.

I walk back into my room and go to the dresser. My phone is right there. With shaky hands, I pick it up, but I drop the headphones that we’re on the edge of the table.

I lower myself to pick them up and stand, staring at my violet eyes in the mirror before looking back at my phone. I click on the unknown message hoping it’s from my kids or my guys. I need someone to tell me what the hell is going on.

Unknown:Kat, Wake the fuck up!

Huh? What does this shit even mean? I’m fuckingawake.

I look in the mirror and my heart stops, two beads of red stare back at me. My mouth opens to scream, but my mouth gets covered.

I want to shriek in terror, and I would if I could, but I can’t. I need to get myself out of here.

And go where?I think to myself. But that’s a thought for later. Get somewhere away from this—whatever the fuckthisis.

I push against the intruder trying to maneuver myself out of his grip. How did he get in here?

I step on his feet, but the invader picks me up. I touch the guy’s face with my hands trying to grip at something, anything. I finally grab onto his hair and pull it back against me as hard as I can.

He lets out a loud cry and drops me. I have a chunk of deep black hair in my hand.

Someone else is in the room, but I can’t quite see who it is.

“Wake up, Katarina!” The urgency in the tone has me opening the door to my room and sprinting out.

I grab my head, where the hell is that voice coming from, and why does it sound so muffled? I can’t pinpoint who it belongs to.

I hear footsteps right behind me, but that isn’t the scary part. The scariest part is knowing someone is watching me. It almost feels like this is a movie, and I’m the main character. It’s like whoever this is can control what’s going on in this moment. Is that even possible? I can’t make out who it is and why they haven’t shown their face.

I stumble down the stairs, sprinting through the foyer. I open the front door and take five steps from the porch, staring up at the night sky. No, it can’t be.

Wasn’t it sunny a couple minutes ago?

I don’t have much time to investigate as the door opens. I don’t wait. I don’t know what the hell is going on, but one thing I know for sure is, I’m not letting red eyes catch me, and they’re nothing like Silas’s eyes. Where mine are violet, Silas’s are red. This thing, whatever it is, isn’t a vampire. The eyes look like huge red dots, at least from the small glance I was able to get.

I run as fast as I can through the forest. I try calling my wolf one more time, but she doesn’t answer. It would be a lot faster if I could switch bodies.

The grass, branches, and dirt move beneath my feet as I speed up my pace. I miss dodging a bigger branch and fall on my face. I’m reminded of a horror movie where I’m the character about to get killed.

The intruder is only a couple of steps from reaching me. I struggle to stand up, but the body is already on top of me.

My eyes drift open, and I try to shield my eyes from the harsh light. My body is sweating and aching.

It was just a dream, and I try to convince myself to calm down from the panic.

The light in the room is bright. I quickly sit up and look around the room. It’s decorated in violet just like my eyes.

Wh-What the fuck just happened? A tall man leaves the room. I don’t recognize him, but he’s gone before I can ask him what’s going on.

My eyes find Ash as he stares at me. I think he was the one screaming my name to get me to wake up. Az is unconscious. Benji and Tyler are not here.

“Where are we?” My voice is horse and raw.

Images flood my mind of the gruesome and bloody scene we left behind.
