I rub my wrists while she helps untie my guys.

“We have to get my kids,” I say urgently.

“Two guys are retrieving them now, Ryder and Cash,” she replies.

“Fuck,” Az mutters.

“Apparently they had their own vehicle and were keeping a safe distance from all of you guys. They’re very stubborn. Your betas had to calm them down. Benji and Tyler looked like shit when they showed back up.”

“Come on,” she says as she opens the door.

“How did you guys find us?” I ask curiously.

“We can talk about that when we get out of here,” she replies urgently.

“Should we check to make sure the kids are out?” I don’t want to leave anything to chance.

“Oh, they’re out,” she answers confidently. “That’s why Theo left to go find them. Cash and Ryder wasted no time.”

Ash grumbles something about kids being careless under his breath.

“What’s your name?” I ask the girl.

“Lina,” she answers without saying anything more.

As soon as we leave the room, I notice we’re not in the same facility we were in before. There is no blood or dead bodies lying on the floor. We’re in a home I’ve never been in before.

“How’s the security?”

“Tyler and his super-secret hacker guys got into it already.” I look at her to see if she expands on that, but she doesn’t.

“We trailed them. You guys have been here for almost twenty-four hours.” How long was I in that dreamscape?

We walk down another corridor before she says, “Oh shit, it’s the other way.” We turn back around.

“Do you know where you’re going?” Az asks with a hint of annoyance in his voice.

“Yes. Now shut up before you make me lose my concentration.” Lina huffs, and I try not to chuckle at how defensive she sounds.

My heart thumps loudly. I don’t want to get caught again. I wish more than ever that the shot they gave me will wear off soon. I need my wolf back.

She walks around the corner and back pedals, turning to us and putting her index finger over her lips, telling us to stay silent. We do as she says. There are footsteps echoing down the hall, but thankfully they are growing fainter as they pass. When it’s silent, Lina gestures urgently, and we follow her to the back door on swift, quiet feet.

Lina eases it open, and we emerge out into the shadowy forest. The moment we’re through, she begins to sprint, and my guys and I follow. Our legs take us further away from the house. We run until we find a road. Lina’s head swivels in both directions before settling on the right. I hope she knows where she’s going.

In the distance, engines rumble. My lungs burn and legs ache as I push myself faster. But it’s no use, our pursuers are too quick.

Doors slam around us. Before I can react, rough hands seize me and drag my flailing body into the van. The engine surges and we peel away.

No. No! Did I seriously get kidnapped again?

Chapter twenty-seven

They’renottakingmewithout a fight. I start thrashing and clawing viciously at the arm locked around me. But as I look up, ready to kill my attacker, Tyler’s handsome face appears above me instead. At the sight of him, the fight drains out of me. My body goes limp with relief as the engine roars and we leave.

Tyler’s here. He came for me, and I’m safe now. I want to cry as I inhale his scent.
