He takes notice of my pained expression and scrunches his brows. “Where do you hurt? Did anyone touch you?” he asks softly, but it’s still more of a demand he expects me to answer.

“Physically, I can handle it, emotionally, fuck. I’m a mess of emotions I don’t want to think about yet.”

“We’ll get through this together.” I rest my head on his arm. I was trying to go for his shoulder, but he’s too damn tall.

Someone ruffles my hair, and I already know it’s Benji. “You gave us a scare.” He tries to sound humorous, but instead, his voice is strained.

I look around the van. “Where are my kids and your sister?”

“The kids are behind us.” Benji moves his head so I can see the other vehicle trailing us. “My sister . . .” he sighs, and my heart speeds up. I know nothing good is going to come out of his lips. “She’s stuck. She wasn’t able to come.”

“I’m so sorry, Benji. We’ll find a way to get her out.” Even though she looked at me in disgust, said I wasn’t Benji’s mate, and then tried to kill me.

“Where were we going with this again?”my wolf asks, and I’m relieved to hear her in my head again.

I glance down at my hands, seeing my talons come out just to reassure me that my wolf is really there—talons that look so different than Theo’s and my daughter’s.

“You want to know where we are going with this? We’re absolutely going to help out Benji’s sister,”I reply.

When we get out of the van, I immediately wait for my kids in front of theirs. As soon as I see Ezra’s head poking through the door, I run to their vehicle. When both of his feet hit the ground, I rush in for a hug.

“I missed you,” I murmur in his ear.

“I missed you too,” he says right back, hugging me just a little tighter.

“Hey, Mom,” Ava says, standing next to her brother. I move to her next, giving her a tight hug.

“It looks like we’re going to have more students,” she says as we pull apart.

“Where are they?” Ryder comes up to us smiling, but his eyes still look strained as if he’s worried that another threat is approaching. I hate to see that look on a teenage kid. They should be having fun, not waiting for the next threat to take us out.

“They’ve already settled in their rooms,” Ryder answers.

“I’m tired, Mom,” Ava says as her head hangs low.

“So am I,” Ezra agrees.

The kids say their goodbyes and rush back to the house.

My body is exhausted by the time I walk inside. I feel like I’ve been up for days, and the nightmare dreamscape I was in really took a toll on my body and mind.

I drag my heavy feet up the stairs to my room, but before opening the door, Az grabs my elbow to stop me, and I look up at him with concern.

“What’s going on?” I am hesitant about taking another step. I’m so on edge that I automatically think someone is here to attack.

“Relax, Kat. We’re taking you there.” He points to a closed door that’s next to mine. I’ve actually never been there before. We walk together to the room, but just before I get there, I stop.

“Let me go get some clothes.” I try to walk back but he stops me.

“We have everything you need in there.” He opens the room, and my curiosity propels me forward.

Woah. This room is bigger than mine, but what catches my attention is the huge bed sitting right in the middle of the room.

“So umm . . .” I scratch the back of my head nervously.

“We’re all sleeping in here,” Ash says from right behind me. I’ve slept with each of them but never with all of them at once. I’m starting to get a little nervous about the idea of having my men all in the same room together and naked.

The red and black sheets remind me of Az’s room. Actually, this looks like it would be Az’s room with all the toys and ropes stored neatly on one side of the wall. I look up to see hooks. This is like Az and Ash’s room put together.
