A hush settled over the crowd, every ear straining to catch his words. What was he talking about?

“We have reason to believe,” he began, emphasizing each word, “that we’ve located Atar.”

A gasp rippled through the assembly, echoing around us.

“If our information is accurate,” Theron pressed on, “finding Atar could lead us to Ydonja. And if we can reach her, we might be able to restore the magic taken from the Remnants.”

The implications of his words hung in the air for a moment before a roar filled the city, shaking debris from the stone high above. But amidst the excited murmurs, I felt a twist of unease. Was this too much change too fast?

“When did Oz find a location?” I asked, my brow furrowing.

“This morning,” he answered, a smile in his voice. “I’ve been dying to tell you for hours.”

I laughed, the sound blending with the excitement of the gathered crowd. “Three of them, I’m betting.”

He smiled down at me, his eyes shining with mischief. “It’s been more like four now.”

I beamed at him, overwhelmed by the emotion coursing through me. My heart felt as if it would burst from my chest, and all I could do was stare up into Theron’s handsome face.

“I love you,” he said, his gaze holding mine with a strength that left no room for doubt. “No matter what we face, we’ll do it together.”

My throat tightened as tears threatened. “I love you, too.”

Theron drew me close, kissing me deeply. I melted into his embrace, savoring the feel of his lips on mine. The surrounding crowd erupted into cheers once more, but it was as if we were in a world of our own. Nothing else mattered except for the two of us.
