“Raven Marketing has been in business for fourteen years. We don’t need any PR stunts,” I responded.

"Well," she continued, "word on the street is that you're just trying to do this to improve your playboy reputation around town. How do you think it's going over?"

“Excuse me,” Reyna said politely. “Bryce and I have a lot of things to attend to this evening. Perhaps you can schedule an interview with us. We'd be pleased to answer your concerns then. Enjoy your evening.”

Reyna quickly ended the conversation, grabbed my arm, and continued toward the staircase. I was completely grateful for her ability to deal with the press. I continued to be stunned by this extraordinary woman.

Chapter 19

Reyna

Afterleavingthatgossipycolumnist, Bryce and I giggled all the way up the staircase. Of course, these people were just doing their jobs and there was no point in getting upset about it. But tonight wasn't the time nor place and besides, Bryce and I kind of had each other on our minds.

Bryce led me down the hallway and then tucked into a large bedroom at the end of one of the wings of the mansion. It felt like we were teenagers sneaking around in the middle of the night, trying not wake up our parents. As we entered, I laughed out loud. It was a typical teenage boy's room filled with posters of Atlanta Braves players and Falcons cheerleaders. I wondered why it had never been changed.

“Oh my God, I feel like I’ve just walked into the past,” I said, laughing uncontrollably.

“Hey, mind you, I was very cool back in the day. A lot of girls liked me,” he tried to defend himself and I laughed.

“I believe you,” I responded, trying to control my laughter. It was totally cute, how everything was preserved. Like his parents wanted to keep his childhood alive forever.

I walked around the room, admiring the posters and photos.

“Is that you in high school?” I asked, taking a framed picture from his chest of drawers.

“Yep, that’s me. I was eighteen. It was shortly before I left home to explore the world. I was a wild child back then.” He looked at the photo a little wistfully.

“It seems like you went on quite some epic adventures,” I probed him to tell me more.

Bryce sat down on the edge of his bed and patted the spot next to him. I eagerly took a seat, waiting for him to continue.

“I started off in Europe. Traveled from city to city, picking up odd jobs, meeting new people, and experiencing new cultures. I was young, wild, and free,” he said with a grin.

“What kind of odd jobs did you do?” I asked curiously.

“Oh, you name it. Bartender, waiter, street performer, tour guide. If there was money to be made and an adventure to be had, I was there.” He shot me a wry smile and I saw the young boy in his eyes.

I listened intently as Bryce recounted a few stories of adventure and exploration. He talked about the people he met along the way, the lessons he learned, and the risks he took. As he spoke, I began to see a different side of him. One that was carefree and unafraid of anything life had to offer. It was inspiring.

“Wow,” I said once Bryce finished his story. “That sounds incredible. I’ve never really traveled much myself.”

Bryce looked at me with surprise.

“Really? You seem like the type who’s been everywhere,” he said with a smile. I chuckled.

“Nope. Not much farther than Tennessee. Well, that’s not true. I went to Miami for spring break one time.” I laughed again.

Bryce leaned in closer and looked at me with such intensity that my heart skipped a beat.

He pulled back slightly and gazed into my eyes. I got off the bed and headed back to his chest of drawers, looking at the trinkets he had displayed.

Bryce walked toward me and put his arms around my waist. I could feel his breath on my neck as he hugged me from behind. I leaned my head back as he started kissing my neck, my arms crossed to caress his forearms. The material of his tuxedo felt thick and rich in my hands, and I started to feel tingly down below.

I spun around to catch his mouth in mine and soon we were getting lost in the deepness and wetness of our mouths. I could have devoured him right on the spot.

He led me back to his bed where we fell down and wrapped ourselves together. I could only describe it as being electric and intense. I felt like I couldn't get enough.

The muffled voices and noise from the party downstairs drifted away completely as Bryce’s hands started to explore. His touch left stardust on my skin. He reached to find the hem of my gown and shimmied it up until he found my lace panties. He pulled them down just so he could gain entrance with his fingers.
