“Listen. If you give me a minute, I know a guy who knows a guy. I’ll make some calls. We can trace the most likely venues and go from there.”

I scowl. But I don’t have any better options. “Fine.”

A few minutes later, I’m pacing in front of the bar and the bartender turns to me with a grin. “I’ve got the names of five places that I think are our most likely options in the area. Which one do you want to try first?”

FIFTEEN

Jessie

I knew it.

I knew this job was a bad idea. Asshole hasn’t even hired security. When I turned up, he told me his friend owns the bar and he’s got the whole place tonight. Apparently, he’s not short on friends either. His drunken mates fill the bar, cat-calling, and leering as soon as me and the other girl from Glitterbabes show up. Sandra, the other girl, is nervous as hell.

I don’t blame her.

If we show fear now, though, the leering will turn into insults and grabbing. I know from experience. So I sway my hips and stride through the room to the open space set up at the back like the queen I am, ignoring the way it feels like every second guy I walk past is breathing down my neck. Sandra scurries along behind me and sticks closer than my shadow while I find the sound system and set up the music. “You wanna go first, babe?” I ask her.

She almost chokes on her own spit and shakes her head.

“You have stripped before, right?”

Sandra nods. “Yeah. But like only at this one club. I’ve never done a private show before. I thought it’d be different.”

I give her a confident smile I don’t feel. “Hey, don’t worry. I’ve got you. Just act happy and watch what I do. If it starts to go south, we walk out, OK?”

“Yeah. Thanks.”

The second the music starts and I begin to move, the heckling starts.

“Hey, scrawny, we paid to see ass. I hope you brought a friend.”

“Yeah. She brought a friend. Bring her out.”

“Oooh, yeah. I thought we were going to see a lesbian show.”

I wrestle the smile back onto my face and keep going, swaying my hips and running my hands over my belly. This is far from the worst I’ve ever had. Their stupid lesbian comment shouldn’t surprise me. So I do what I normally do when this sort of thing happens. I target the loudest heckler.
