“I just saw Gage,” stating it like she should know who I am talking about.

“Who is Gage?” she asks, sounding even more confused.

“He is the Resident Advisor at Hearst Hall. No doubt he isn’t the only one, but he is the only one I have dealt with.” My words pause, peeking around the corner of the building to make sure the coast is clear. “He is also friends with the guys. He gave them access to my room, giving them a key.”

“Oh shit!” she says in shock. “I don’t even know who the RA is in my building.”

“You are lucky. Gage seems nice enough, but the guy doesn’t understand personal boundaries.”

Both of our heads are on a swivel, looking out for anyone who might be helping the guys track me down. We have walked far enough that we are no longer on campus. Continuing our journey into the small town of Groveton, Kassidy breaks the silence.

“Why don’t we head to Bar Aphrodisiac and grab a hamburger?”

My stomach takes that precise moment to growl in agreement, causing us both to laugh and easing the tension in my shoulders.

“I’ve never been there before; sounds like a great place to hide.”

With smiles on both of our faces, we link arms and head to the bar.

After the hostess seats us, we look over the menu. Decision made on food, I look around the room, starting with the faces. Finding none that appear familiar, my body relaxes. Once the waitress takes our order, I lean across the table toward Kassidy, dropping my voice to just above a whisper.

“There’s something I need to tell you,” my tone is serious.

Kassidy’s brows furrow in confusion. Taking a deep breath, I launch into the story of my real name, how I came to be on campus, and my connection to the guys because of the accident. By the end of my story, lunch has been consumed, and Kassidy’s jaw hangs open in shock.

CHAPTERFORTY-ONE

We called anyone we could think of to help search the campus for Kennedy and Kassidy. I'm not sure how, but they managed to hide from everyone since lunch. I am currently sitting in the dark in Kennedy’s dorm room, pissed as hell. Gareth is downstairs making last-minute arrangements with his father for tomorrow.

Kennedy’s roommate came in about an hour ago. She never said a word—she merely raised an eyebrow at me, grabbed a few things, and walked back out again, completely unfazed by my presence.

Looking at me, one might assure my body is at ease. Sprawled out on Kennedy’s bed, my arms are crossed behind my head, and my ankles crossed one over the other, looks are very deceiving. My body is tighter than the skin on a bongo drum.

The doorknob rattles, and I force myself not to move. Whoever is on the other side might just be the roommate coming back. What the fuck is her name? Carmen, Carrie, Callie…no, wait, Calista, yeah, that’s it, Calista.

The small desk light coming on brings me back to the present. Since the light isn’t very bright, most of the room remains shrouded in darkness. Only my eyes move, blinking to adjust to the illumination. Kennedy is oblivious to my presence, so I remain still, watching her move about the room. She empties her backpack, plugs in her laptop, stacks her books on the desk, and files some papers away.

Kennedy starts removing her clothes, putting on one hell of a show, making my dick hard. Her top goes first, giving me a peek at the simple white cotton bra. She removes her skirt next, pushing the elastic waistband down her legs. Kennedy bends over to pick up the skirt as she steps out of it. The glorious view of her ass, split up in the center by a small fraction of white lace, has me biting back a moan. My dick hurts due to the lack of space in my pants, but I still don’t move. Reaching behind her, she unsnaps her bra, sliding the straps down her arms. Watching her tits bounce with their newfound freedom, my hands itch to touch them. All three pieces of clothing get tossed into a hamper sitting next to her desk.

The moment she realizes she isn’t alone, she tries to cover her tits with her arm, letting out a high-pitched scream.

“Arggggghhh! What the fuck are you doing here, Callum?”

My lips tip up on one side as Kennedy scrambles for something to cover herself with. Attempting to keep her tits hidden, she pulls her head through the top of a T-shirt using one arm. Being somewhat covered, she puts one arm through the sleeve hole. Using her now-covered arm, she pulls the bottom of the shirt in place as she splits the arm covering her tits into the other sleeve. Now fully covered, she glares at me, arms crossed over her chest.

“I am still waiting for an answer. What are you doing here?” she asks.

Raising an eyebrow, her face beet red, waiting for me to crack. A full smirk crosses my lips. If the Duchess wants to play, we can play.

In one smooth movement, I sit up, remaining on the bed. Kennedy flinches at my movement. My smirk turns into a full smile as she takes a wary step backward. She is wise to be cautious. Waiting for Kennedy to relax, I halt all movement, biding my time.

Several long moments pass as we stare each other down, pride getting in the way. I cave, needing to move this along.

“Where were you all day, Duchess? We need to talk to you. You never showed up for lunch. Strangely, Kassidy seemed to disappear at the same time you did.”

Opening and closing her mouth several times, no words come out. She stares at the floor, nibbling on her bottom lip. Cutting her off from whatever lie she was preparing to spew, my tone is stern.

“The truth, Kennedy, no bullshit!”
