“What are you talking about?”

“Did I forget to mention that we're starting work at Alyssa's house this summer?”

“What work?”

Aiden dragged his gaze to Alyssa, giving her a smile. “We’re going to restore it. But it needs a lot of work, which means that Alyssa can’t live there.”

“So she's going to be our fifth roommate?” Jackson asked.

“Nope,” he popped out, chuckling. “She's going to be myonlyroommate. Casa d’Aiden is officially closing.”

I looked at Jackson, who seemed equally perplexed by the news. We knew eventually that he'd want us out, but I guess we all thought we’d have another year.

“So does that mean we're going to have to find a new place to live?”

He shrugged his shoulder. “More or less. I'll be nice and give you time to find somewhere, but she's moving in the start of next semester once all her bathrooms are ripped out.”

Well, shit. I guessed Jackson, Matty and I were going to have to find a new home on top of football training this summer.

Just as Aiden started to make his way down the stairs, he looked behind him. “What’s up, Matty? You look like someone just put your dick in a chastity belt.”

Matty strolled into view, pushing past Aiden as he stared at the phone as though it held all of life’s answers.

“Matty?” I said with unease. His hair was all over the place, and although that wasn't unusual for him since he liked the messy look, this time, it was out of control.

“Umm, Olana broke up with me.” He looked dazed, but I couldn’t say I was surprised. Thea, on the other hand, gasped like she’d just seen a ghost.

“Hallelujah!” Jackson hollered, raising his hands in the air as he closed his eyes and hummed a little too dramatically.

“Jackson!” Adam warned.

“What? We were all thinking it.”

Aiden snorted out a laugh, stalking over to Jackson and giving him a high five. “Do we finally agree on something?”

Jackson tipped his chin. “Can't deny it's the best news I've ever heard come out of your mouth. That girl treated you like crap. What'd you do this time?”

Matty was blanking all of us, lost in a haze of confusion. “I have no idea.” He shook his head, and I almost felt sorry for him. The key word there being, almost. Like the other guys, I found Olana as annoying as a fly swarming my food during a cookout. She wasn't pleasant, to say the least, and fully understanding what my teammate saw in her was always a conundrum.

“Guess that means you can bring Britt to Dev’s wedding, then.”

“Britt?” If I wasn’t looking, I would have missed the quirk in Matty’s lips when his best friend was mentioned. “She’s already going.”

“So you could take me.” As per usual, my sister cut through the tension with her need to be the center of attention. “You’ve got my number, and you buy the best snacks.” She lifted the now empty bag of BBQ chips.

“Wow. Your fickle heart changed quickly.” Jackson shook his head with mock disbelief, but Thea waved him off.

“Whatever, you didn’t want me enough.” She shot Matty a look. “If you need a date, I’m your girl.”

“Alright, we’re going.” I grabbed Thea, pulling her in the direction of the suitcases. “Get your suitcase, T.”

After loading up Adam’s bags and then ours, we said one last goodbye to my roommates for the summer andgot in the car. Looking over at Aster by my side, I held mypalm out to her, and she just stared at it. “You ready for this?”

“With you by my side, how could I not be?” She placed her hand in mine, and as I clasped it, I knew she was it for me. We’d been through so much together, and I couldn’t wait to see what the rest of our lives had in store.

“Ugh. Please. Please. Please, can we put some music on? I can’t bear to listen to you both for the next hour.” Thea crossed her arms, sinking into the seat with a pout, and I just chuckled, ready to make my way to the airport with the two most important women in my life.
