“She can stay,” Jackson said before walking past me to go into the kitchen. “We’re going to have a pizza, anyway.”

I glared at Thea, our twin telepathy working overtime because I wanted to know she was definitely okay with this. From what I understood, she hadn’t gone out much at GCC, and now she was willing to hang out with two guys she just met this morning. Granted, if they weren’t my teammates, none of this would be happening, but I trusted Matty and Jackson with my life.

Sitting on the sofa, she snuggled down, getting closer to Matty in the process. That girl was going to be the death of me.

“So where are you going this late on a Friday night, anyway?” Thea teased. “Have you got a secret girlfriend.”

“No. I’m going to meet my tutor.”

“Can’t you ditch him and rearrange? I just got here. We should be celebrating.”

“I can’t because this is the only time she’s free.”

“Oh, it’s a girl,” Thea said, with heavy implications behind it. “Do youlikeher?”

“No. I don’t.”

“You sure about that? Because you’ve got that sappy smile on your face.” She turned to look at Jackson. “It’s the same face he gave my best friend, Emily. He had a crush on her for years, and he thought I didn’t know.” Then she huffed out a laugh. “Hell, he thought Emily didn’t know. We were all just waiting for them to get together, but then it never happened. Sucked for him because she ended up going with her best friend Cam after Tanner didn’t ask her to prom.”

“Wait. What?”

“Baby bro. If only you had been paying attention, you be married to Emily right now.”

“Maybe watching over you has taken too much of my attention away.” I shook my head because I had no time to think about a girl in high school that I barely remembered. I needed to focus on the girl that was in front of me. “Look, I’m sorry I can’t reminisce. I’m already running late.”

“Don’t worry, T. I’ll let your roommates entertain me until you get back.”

“Run for your lives,” I mumbled, shutting the door, knowing that leaving her there wasn’t the best decision, but I didn’t have much of a choice. Aster wasn’t the kind of girl you wanted to tick off, and besides, I knew Matty and Jackson would take care of Thea.

“You’re late.” Her lips were pursed, and she was tapping her foot on the floor like she was holding back on kicking me in the balls for wasting her time. I’d probably be more concerned for my package if I wasn’t so distracted by how large her boobs looked with her arms folded across her chest. Not that I wanted to look, but damn, she was making it hard not to.

“I’m sorry,” I sputtered out. “My sister showed up unexpectedly, and I couldn’t get away.” I gave her my best apologetic face, and her lips twisted into something. It wasn’t a frown or a smile. It almost looked like she was constipated, and I wasn’t sure how to take it.

She threw a finger up in the air, making me cross-eyed just looking at it. “One pass. That’s it.Ifyou’re late again, I’m finished.”

I raised my hands. “I promise, I will be at least ten minutes early from now on.”

She narrowed her eyes in an unspoken threat, and I dropped my hands. “Shall we find a place to sit?”

“No need. I have a spot. Come on.” She spun on her heel, highlighting another one of her short, pleated skirts. It was pink and purple this time, and just as short as the rest of them. Damn, why was I disappointed? I guessed it was because I’d already imagined her in a navy number.

I was staring at her thighs so much that I nearly bumped into her when she stopped.

“This is the spot?” I asked with surprise. It was a small table in the corner that, if I was being honest, I had no idea existed. Between Nordic history and old vinyl records, this wasn’t the most frequented part of the library, and I guessed that was part of the appeal for her. No wonder I never knew she existed. She’d been hiding her hotness here the whole time.

I inwardly groaned because this was my tutor I was talking about. She couldn’t stand me, and here I was thinking about all the things I shouldn’t, especially when I’m trying to get a passing grade.

“What’s wrong with it?” She asked, dropping her books down with anger. She was so feisty, and I’d never met someone here that treated me with such discontent. It was kind of refreshing that she made me work for everything.

“Nothing. It’s just so… you.” It felt like this was the kind of place a girl like Aster would want to be. Hidden away. When she shouldn’t. Her flaming red hair brightened any room she was in and those short skirts made it hard for her to go unnoticed.

“Glad you like it.” She took a seat, opened her books, and looked at me expectedly, her fingers twiddling a pencil against a pad. I quickly sat down next to her, pulling out my own books, and pretended to organize them in some other way than color.

“Okay, so I’ve had a look at the grades that Ralph sent me, and I think the best thing for us to do is Sports Marketing first since that’s the class you’re doing the best in.”

“Wait, you know my grades?” My mind started reeling with embarrassment. She’d seen my transcripts, which could only mean that she knew I’d gotten a big, fat F in my last test. I tried to study for it, but I’d somehow whipped myself into such a frenzy, I forgot everything.

For the first time since I met her, she looked almost apologetic, and that was exactly what I hated. Pity. “Tanner. I’m your tutor. I need to know your grades so that I can figure out the best and most efficient use of our time. Your main goal is to get your overall average up to a C, right?” I nod. “Well, then it makes sense to make sure you’re maintaining your best performing grade so that you can work on raising your worst score next. It means your overall average should go up.”
