Tanner:Yes, Teach?

Aster:Answer the question.

I laughed because I could hear the threatening tone in her message. She was so stubborn; it was ridiculous.

Tanner:Ralph.

Aster:I knew it.

Tanner:He gave it to me in case I needed to contact you.

Aster:When?

Tanner:Around the first week we started working together.

Aster:And you didn’t tell me?

Tanner:Didn’t think it was that big a deal.

Aster:It’s not.

Tanner:Then why are you making it one?

Bubbles appeared and disappeared, and I wondered if this was her way of stalling, so she didn’t have to spend as long at this ball. I had no idea what to expect since the only experience I had with sororities were the things that Hayden, Adam’s girlfriend, told me, and none of them were good.

Aster:It’s just I’m a private person, and I didn’t realize he was giving my number to people.

Tanner:He wasn’t giving it to people. He was giving it to me.

Judging from her not responding, I guessed that did little to quell her insecurity.

Tanner:If it makes you feel any better, he told me to only use it in a genuine emergency and nothing else.

Aster:I guess that marginally helps.

Tanner:Are you ready? Because it’s ridiculous that we’re texting when we could be on the way to the party.

Aster:Nearly. Give me five minutes.

Okay, five minutes.

That would mean she was right on time. I shifted in the seat, trying to drop my shoulders, but I couldn’t relax in the small confines of the car because my leg was bouncing against the steering wheel.

Picking up the flowers, I grabbed my phone and got out of the car, since that felt like a better way to wait for her.

After shutting the door, I leaned against it, and folded one leg over the other, finally forcing it to stop moving. I flicked through some sports news just to keep my mind off what Aster might be wearing, but all of that went out the window and the dorm doors opened.

Slack jawed, I nearly dropped my phone in the gutter. Thankfully, I had incredible reflexes, and caught it just in time, but I still hadn’t fully comprehended what the fuck I was looking at, or if I was awake, because it had to be my dreams.

Aster was… Well, shit. If I thought Aster’s skirts were lethal, her dress tonight would be cyanide. I’d always known she was hot, but she was everything tonight. In a long black gown, she walked around with enough confidence that people would believe she wore that all the time.

I gulped, because the closer she got, the more I realized there was a slit in the dress all the way up to the middle of her thigh. The same thighs I’d been fantasizing about gripping my cheeks for the last week.

I slipped my phone in my sports jacket without taking my eyes off of her and grinned at the sight. Her dress was so tight, it looked like it was spray painted on her, and I could make out every single curve of her hips and her breasts.

Oh god, her breasts.

They were so perfect and pert.
