“Yeah.” She looked somewhat perplexed by the suggestion. “Unless you want me to follow right behind you, which I'm more than happy to do.” I flicked my gaze down to her skirt, so she’d know exactly what I was thinking.

She pushed me and rolled her eyes. “You know. You sitting there watching me doesn’t make it sound like much of a date.”

“Why not? Whenever you find a good book that you want to read, you can come over and tell me about it.”

“Really? Won’t you get bored?”

“Of watching you? Never. If I do, though, I can always use the time you're browsing to look up a few stats on the newest recruits for next year.”

“Umm okay.” She smiled awkwardly and scrunched her nose. “Are you sure you want to do this? It's not really a date, is it?”

“Well, I'm glad you feel comfortable enough with me that you can poop on my idea so easily. Do you want to do something else?”

I took a step back toward the door, but she stopped me. “No. No.” She smiled. “It’s a really thoughtful idea. I just don’t want you to feel like I’m taking advantage of you.”

“I’m offering, so you aren’t.”

“Aren’t you going to be bored, though?”

“You seem to underestimate just how fascinating I find listening to you talk about something you love is.”

That made her push me on the shoulder. “Were you always this charming?”

“Charming.” I tilted my head, thinking about it for a minute. “Or smarmy? I guess it depends on the type of guy you like.”

“You're not smarmy.”

I snaked my hands around her waist and pulled her hips to me. She leaned back to give herself some space, but giggled when I ignored her and came down for a kiss.

“Tanner,” She reprimanded, looking around as if anyone cared what a couple of college kids were doing in the foyer.

“This isn’t a library, you know. This is a bookstore. Completely different place with a completely different set of rules.”

“Still doesn’t mean I want everyone to see.”

I backed off, taking a step toward the table. “Okay. Okay. I’m sorry.”

Aster took my hand before I could go too far. “Walk the shelves with me?” She sang, and I obviously agreed, giving her hand a little squeeze.

“You know, I read that there’s also a basement here filled with old texts dating back to the civil war.”

“A basement?”

“Yeah. I’m not sure I’m willing to go down there. What if there’s one of those glass boxes like inYou?”

“The TV show? You know it's a book too, right?”

“I do now.”

“Let’s find it.” She dragged me down an aisle, and I was no expert on genres, but she brought me down the gardening aisle, and I was almost certain thatYouwould be classed as a psychological thriller.

She flicked a glance over her shoulder and flashed a sexy smirk. It was only after she rested her back against the books and pulled me closer that tiny brain finally realized that she was bringing me here, not to look for books, but for a wholly different reason.

Tilting her chin up, the invitation to kiss her was there, and I was never one to turn down an invite.

I dropped a peck on her lips before hovering over her lips and looking from side to side. “Why does this feel just as naughty as if we were doing this in our actual library?”

“Because it's worse.” She giggled, clearly not caring, and I liked Aster felt free enough around me to act like this. “It’s even more public. Imagine if people found the star quarterback kissing his tutor in the aisles.”
