I threw my head back, coming down her throat while she swallowed every ounce of me down.

I didn’t know what to do. Unsure if the stars in my vision would subside once I opened my eyes.

“Was that, okay?” Aster asked, with a hint of uncertainty in her voice.

I immediately opened my eyes and cupped her cheeks. “Aster, that was more than okay. That was amazing. I just didn’t want you to have to swallow everything, that’s all.”

She offered me a small smile. “Didn’t want to make a mess that you’d have to explain to your roommates.”

I held off on telling her that this couch had seen worse because I didn’t want to taint the moment.

“Thank you, A. That was something else.”

“You sure it was okay? Because I read a few things that I wanted to try but I figured I should get the basics down before I do anything else.”

I chuckled. “You don’t need any tricks, Aster. Your lips.” I brought my thumb to her bottom lip and pulled it down before releasing it. “Are everything I need.”

I could see a small blush creeping up her cheeks, but it didn’t last long, because her phone rang again.

“Aster. I think you should get that.” She looked reluctant to move at first. I was reluctant for her to move, too. “What if it’s about your mom?”

I watched as the realization hit her, and she sprang into action, heading to her bag in just her sports bra and skirt.

She mumbled to herself as she scrolled through her phone. “Is everything okay?”

“Yeah, it’s fine. It’s Rachel Hardman. She’s left me several voicemails and a text that she needs to talk to me urgently.”

“About what?”

“Sorority things, I’m guessing.”

“I thought you were done with the sorority stuff?”

“Yeah, well, I haven’t told her that, but I figured she’d get the message when I didn’t show up to any of their meetings after the one I went to with you.”

“Can’t you block her?”

She stared at the phone, looking as though she was seriously considering it, but then relented. “No. I should at least talk to her. I don’t want her calling my mom and stressing her out before her surgery.”

“Would your mom really care that you aren’t returning Rachel’s calls?” I asked as I put my pants back on and got up to find my shirt. As much as Aster was ready for sex with me tonight, the mood was somewhat killed by the texts.

“I might just go over and talk to her in person. That way, we can figure it all out.”

“If you’re going now, then let me walk you there. I don’t want you walking around campus at night.”

“Are you sure?”

“Yeah, I’ve got nothing better to do now that my date is ditching me.”

She dropped her phone and rolled her eyes before she buttoned her shirt up. “Come on. Let’s get this over with. I don’t want to be there all night.”

Chapter 18

Tanner’s thumb rubbed across the top of my hand as we stared at the Colonial sorority house. It should have good memories for us, considering it was where the social was held that we went to, and where Tanner first kissed me, but I couldn’t help feeling like it was a knot I couldn’t untie. I didn’t want to be there. They didn’t want me there, but somehow my mother had convinced me I needed to join to make her happy.

“Do you want me to go in with you?” Tanner asked, looking more concerned than he should have. What did he expect to happen while I was there?

“I’m good. Thanks for walking me, but you don’t have to wait for me. I don’t know how long it will take.”
