Entering a door in the middle of the hallway, I stepped into an elegant bedroom with floor-to-ceiling windows and soft lighting that cast a warm glow across the room.

“And where will you be?” I asked, hoping he would say here.

“My room is at the end,” he said, leaving me breathless. “You’ll find a change of clothes in the closet. You should have everything you need.”

“And if I need you?” I asked, staring into his sultry eyes.

“You know where to find me,” he said, making me melt as he walked away.

I was ready to explode watching him go. I never wanted anyone more. A part of me wanted to chase him down the hall and mount him like a stallion. Would he have stopped me? Could I stop myself?

Luckily, I didn’t have to find out. Disappearing into his room, he closed the door. It was enough to snap the hold he had over me. When it was gone, I retreated to my room.

“How did I end up here?” I asked myself with my heart pounding.

Looking around the room to re-center myself, I couldn’t help but notice the luxury: the lush carpet, sturdy furniture, and the view of the enclosed balcony. My breath caught as I took it all in.

Venturing over to the closet, I slowly opened the doors. As soon as I did, I was enveloped in the scent of cedar. It overwhelmed my senses. Closing my eyes and losing myself, it relaxed me.

Opening my eyes calmer, I explored the clothes in front of me. There was something for every occasion. Running my fingers over them, it all felt expensive. The suits’ wool, the shirts’ silk, even the casual pants felt unexpectedly soft. More than that, everything was in my size.

Turning from the closet to the bed, I was equally impressed. Not only was it so large that I would have to climb onto it, but the sheet floated above the mattress as if wrapping a marshmallow. It looked amazingly comfortable. And unable to resist, I jumped on it feeling the rush of wind tickle my ears as the duvet settled around me.

I didn’t think it would be possible to fall asleep with all the excitement coursing through me, but I guess I was wrong. As my muscles released and my mind let go, the exhaustion from the grand opening, plane ride, and time difference took over. As my eyelids grew heavy, I didn’t fight it. I had made it to the one place I had always wanted to be. And with my heart growing fuller, I let go of my thoughts and succumbed to sleep.

When I awoke, the first thing I felt was a rush of panic. How much time had passed? Shooting out of bed in a flurry, I exited my room headed to Remy’s. Hearing a spoon in a coffee cup, I changed directions. Reentering the living room, I found Remy sitting on the couch near the balcony engrossed in a book. Looking up and seeing me, he stared at me concerned.

“Dillon, what’s wrong?” He asked ready to hurry to me.

“I slept the day away,” I said in distress. “I missed everything!”

Remy smiled at me with a warmth in his eyes that melted my anxiety.

“Relax, Dillon. Nothing important happens in Paris before noon,” he told me, calming my heart. “We still have the whole day ahead of us.”

I exhaled a shaky breath feeling a slight embarrassment for my overreaction. Remy laughed.

“Don’t laugh. I was worried,” I told him sincerely.

“I know you were. That’s what makes it funny,” Remy said devilishly.

I huffed at his teasing and in return, he held out his arms.

“Ahh! Come here,” he said calling me to him.

Maybe I was still groggy. Maybe something else was going on. But in either case, seeing his arms wide, I crawled into them. Cuddling up to him, he held me. I could have stayed there forever.

“Two questions,” I said when the excitement of being in Paris drew me back.

“What’s that?”

“One, you read? Two, since when do you read?”

I looked up at Remy who smiled. Flipping the hardcover in his hands, he said, “Yes, I read, and I’ve always read. My nap was shorter than yours so I decided to grab a coffee and see if I could get through anymore of my French reading list.”

I stared at Remy.

“How have I never seen you read before?”
