“Remy!” I cried. “You’re okay! I’ve been worried sick. I didn’t know what happened or—”

“It’s alright,” he said calming me. “Where are you? I need to see you.”

“Is it safe to talk? How would I know if someone was forcing you to say this?”

Remy was silent for a moment.

“Remember that time when you were staying at my family’s apartment and I walked in on you dancing naked with a hardon?”

Heat rushed to my face as fast as a nudist reaching for his zipper.

“I didn’t have a hardon?” I protested wishing it weren’t true.

“Okay. Whatever. Tell me where you are. I need to see you.”

“I’m back at my place in New Jersey.”

Just as I said it, someone knocked on my door.

“Oh my God, Remy. Someone’s knocking at my door.”

“Really? You should probably answer it.”

“But what if…”

“You’re gonna want to answer it.”

I got up keeping the phone to my ear. Approaching the door slowly, I leaned in and looked through the peephole.

“Remy,” I said flinging the door open and throwing my arms around him. “How did you know I was here?”

“I told you to go somewhere people wouldn’t look for you.”

“And no one goes to Jersey?” I asked sarcastically.

“Not willingly,” he joked.

I laughed and swatted his arm.

“You came here.”

“That just shows how in love with you I am,” Remy said with a smile.

“You love me so much you’re willing to come to Jersey.”

“It’s a love song that writes itself.”

I laughed. “But seriously, Remy, what happened?” I asked ushering him in and onto my couch.

“It’s over,” he told me as he stared into my eyes.

“Really? Armand’s going to jail?”

Remy paused. “Weeeell…”

“What?” I asked feeling my heart drop.

“What I can tell you for sure is that there’s nothing that can stop us from being together.”
