“They would need to never stop preventing their skin from regenerating,” I continued.

“Not even as they slept. So, to see this tattoo, I knew it had to be important.”

“So, you cut it off of him.”

“And not even as I peeled away the flesh did he let it heal.”

“What does it say? I couldn’t read it.”

“It took me a while to figure that out. It’s written in an old language. One used by the ancient fae.”

“The vampire had a tattoo written in fae?”

“That’s what I thought,” he said turning to me.

“So, what does it say?”

Armand smiled knowing he had me.

“It’s a prophecy. It reads, ‘When the fae have birthed their eyes, they will see through all that can stop them and rule the world.’”

“When the fae have birthed their eyes?” I asked hesitantly.

“Your guess is as good as mine. But if the vampires are now working with the fae, someone will need to stop them before they take over. And who does that leave but the wolves?”

“It’s a human world,” I reminded him.

Armand scoffed. “What are they going to do, troll them on TikTok? The humans are weak. They have no idea what’s coming.”

“It seems like none of us do,” I admitted.

“That is why you need to join me. With you by my side, we can defeat the fae.”

“And when it’s over, are the humans next?”

“The strong shall lead the weak. Wasn’t it a human who said that?” Armand said with a smile.

“You’re a mad wolf,” I told him seeing him for what he was.

“I’m a wolf with vision,” he claimed telling me that I wanted no part of his plan.

“If you want to keep your empire, you are going to leave everyone I care about alone. That includes Eris. From now on, she’s free to be with who she wants. As am I. And if I even get a sense that you’re breaking this deal, the only thing you care about with be taken from you.”

“My daughter?”

“Cut the crap. You don’t give two shits about her.”

Armand chuckled. “You caught me. I’ll tell you, it’s hard to think they’re precious when you have so many.”

I wasn’t sure what Armand was referring to but I didn’t care.

“So, tell me, do we have a deal? Or do I take away your empire?”

Armand looked at me.

“Your father would be proud.”

I didn’t know how to respond to that.
