“Juju is going on a kill mission.” Hearing him say that still hadn’t settled with me yet. I knew what was getting ready to happen. I was going to wait for Stan to come home and shoot him in the fucking head.

I didn’t get squeamish because honestly, murder was the only thing I hadn’t done yet. I’d cut people, stabbed them, beat them with things. I had anger issues that followed me through life. I’d never killed anyone but I wasn’t opposed to it. I definitely didn’t mind popping my murder cherry with Stan.

What he did to me was…

“A kill mission?” Sumo’s slurred words boomed from his mouth, jerking me from my thoughts. “The fuck happened when I was gone? You brought this weak ass bitch in here. In our fucking place and let her chill like she runs shit? Like she’s one of the four kings?”

“Call her a bitch one more time, Sumo and I’ll send you right back to the fucking ER.” King was in Sumo’s face in a heartbeat.

I sighed and slid between the two towering men, facing Sumo. “I can handle myself,” I told King, so he would back the fuck off. “Thisweak ass bitchis the reason your face got sewn up after King beat your ass. You keep fucking disrespecting me and I will shoot your big ass.” I wouldn’t ever try to fight a man that big. A bullet was the only way to handle someone like him.

“Shoot me then, bitch.” He made it a point to enunciate as best as he could.

I lost it.

King had already given me a gun. It was sitting in the corner of the pool table. I grabbed it, knowing the safety was off, aimed at Sumo’s bicep, and pulled the trigger. The loud bang rendered us all deaf for a few seconds. Sumo flew back against the wall, clutching his arm.

“Jupiter!” King yelled over the slow whine playing in the background of my ears. “What the fuck!”

“I’m sick of this nigga! I didn’t kill him, he’s fine.” I put the gun down and walked over to Sumo. “Apologize,” I said, staring up at him.

“Fuck…you,” he griped.

“Oh, fuck me? You can’t just apologize, Sumo?” He glared at me, his eyes shining bright with evil and hatred. He would kill me whenever he had the chance. I pressed my thumb into the singed hole in his arm and listened to him howl. “Apologize, motherfucker.”

“I’m sorry!” His voice wobbled under the weight of agony.

“Jupiter. I’m sorry, Jupiter,” I said slowly pressing my thumb into the hot entry wound. His blood poured over my thumb and trickled down my hand.

“I’m…sorry…Jupiter.” He gritted out.

“Good boy.” I patted the top of his closely cut hair and stood up, pulling my thumb out with no regard for his feelings. I washed my hands in the sink, ignored the men gawking at me, and grabbed my phone to call Jay back.

“Hey, I sent your friend home. Everything okay?” She answered.

“You did a great job, but I shot him so…I’m sending him back to you. At least you get a gunshot wound victim.” I brought my shoulders up around my ears because I knew Jay was about to lay into me.

“Oh my god, Juju! You shot him!”

“Yeah…again, I’ll explain later. You still at work?” I asked.

“I’m taking an hour,” she said. “I was going to see Shaheed and…”

“You just saw him earlier. Forget Yara Shahidi. Can you meet me somewhere?”

“To remove the fucking bullet you put in my patient?” She fumed.

“Yes.” I glanced at the floor.

“Ooh, I swear you’re lucky I love gunshot wounds. Text me the address. I’ll bring a bag.”

“Thanks, sissy.” I ended the call and once again, was met with the eyes of the kings.

“Your sister is…a doctor?” Sumo grunted in pain.

“Yes. She’s the doctor that fixed your ugly-ass face.” Sumo wasn’t physically ugly he had bold features and a permanent scowl but he wasn’t ugly. His spirit sure as hell was though.

The men shared looks between them then looked at me. King pulled me off to the side and said, “You gotta calm down and let me handle Sumo, Juju. I told you that. Now you’re going to have cops swarming the place.”
