“I’ll handle it,” I said, pulling out my phone again.

“Let me guess, you’ll put in a call to the captain?” He was pissed and he didn’t care about letting it show.

“Are you really mad because I shot your brother? The one being ungrateful and nasty for no reason? Seriously?” I quizzed.

“Yes, seriously! You can’t just do shit like that. I know you’re a firecracker and you do what you say you’re going to do but…”

“We don’t shoot brothers unless there’s something serious going on,” Pretty Boy said from across the room.

“He told her to shoot him,” Truck shrugged.

“Thank you!” I said, tossing my hand in the air. “Truck is the only person who understands me. Heaskedme to shoot him. He challenged me, called me out of my name, and couldn’t even say thank you.”

“There are rules, Juju,” King said rubbing his forehead.

“Nobody told me the rules. Consider it ignorance on my part.” I rolled my eyes and called Marsh. When he answered, I said, “Hold off your minions when you get reports of gunfire on 108th.”

“What the hell, Jupiter?” He sighed.

“Sorry. I’ll talk to you later.”

“Tell me what you know about the LOKs. I’ll hold off the calls. We’ll talk tomorrow.” I ended the call and ignored the looks from everyone in the room…again.

The frantic knock at the door snapped everyone out of their daze and like someone pressed play, things started moving again.

Truck grabbed his gun and walked to the door cautiously. It was strange seeing my sweet Truck with a gun. He said he was a killer though. I saw the determined look in his eyes that told me he would put a bullet in whoever was at that door.

“Who is it?” He called in a deep voice.

“Um…Doctor Gray?” Jay’s scared voice on the other side sent me into action. I rushed to the door and pulled it open, glaring at Truck. He put his gun away and held his hands up in surrender.

“Jay,” I said hugging her.

“Hey. Why are you on 108th?”

“Um…Jane, meet…” I was going to call him one-night stand like I had been but then everyone would know we were fucking. I didn’t feel like stirring the pot for once. “My friend, King. That’s Truck and Pretty Boy, and there’s your patient.”

“Oh, Albert.” Jay glanced around the room at everyone briefly, lingering on Pretty Boy. “What the hell did you say to piss her off?” Jay fussed quietly while she knelt beside Sumo, who was now seated on the floor, clutching his arm.

“That’s really your sister?” Sumo asked, Jay.

“Yup. My little sister. She’s batshit crazy but I love her so watch what you say,” she warned with a point of her gloved finger. Pretty Boy snickered a little at the exchange.

“How are you so soft-spoken, but issuing threats, Doc?” Pretty Boy asked her.

“It’s how I work. Ask Juju,” she answered.

“Yup. She’s the sweet one but she will hurt you when it comes to her sister,” I remarked.

“She’s the sweet one? No shit,” King grumbled.

“You know what? I’m sick of you already,” I snapped.

“Sick of me? What the fuck did I do? You’re the one shooting niggas,” King reminded me.

“You said you’d handle his ass. He’s still insanely disrespectful,” I grunted.

“Ju, you need anger management. You can’t just shoot people!” King’s voice thundered.
