“And you can’t just pistol whip people!” I gestured wildly to Sumo on the floor with a fucked up face and now, a bullet wound.

“So you’re the reason Albert needed sixteen stitches?” Jay said without moving her eyes from Sumo’s wound.

“See, that’s your fucking problem, you talk too much,” King shouted, stalking toward me.

“These motherfuckers about to have angry sex,” Pretty Boy groaned, running his fingers over his short wavy Caesar cut.

“Fuck you!” King and I spouted in unison. I paced the floor and King watched me with wolf-like precision.

“Bedroom. Now,” he commanded.

“I’m bringing my gun,” I told him, tipping my nose up. Jay’s head popped up and she frowned in my direction, her once-perfect bun, frizzy.

“Um, please don’t shoot anyone Juju. You know guns scare me,” she peeped.

Pretty Boy snorted that time. “You can’t be scared of guns, doll face. You dig bullets out of people.”

“So? I didn’t put the bullet there,” she bit right back.

I looked between my sister and Pretty Boy and narrowed my eyes. Was therechemistrybetween them? I pushed the thought away and grabbed my gun, following King into his bedroom.

It was decorated in hues of red and gold. I noticed a pattern and wondered if those were Legion of Kings colors. The room was a modest size and spotless. Like I’d expect anything else from the king himself.

“Why the hell did you bring your gun, Juju?” He asked, frowning at my hand.

“Because you like to discipline people and I’ll be damned if you split my shit like you did Sumo.”

“I’d never hit you,” he said. A flash of something zipped through his eyes.

“You pulled a gun on me before,” I pointed out. He pulled his gun out again and stroked my chin with the barrel’s rough surface.

“Like this?” The wild flames in his eyes made my body pulse. I held my gun up and he flashed me a smile as I pressed it into his stomach.

“We’re toxic as shit, aren’t we?” I asked, my breaths coming quicker and quicker.

“As shit,” King agreed. He leaned down and kissed me, using the gun to tip my mouth closer to his. I almost came on myself.

The bedroom door swung open, and in the doorway, stood Jay, Pretty Boy, and Truck, peering at King and I tangled in a gun-wielding kiss.

“Told you,” Pretty Boy said, “They’re fucking.” He pointed to us. “You sister and Truck didn’t believe me.”

King and I broke apart quickly and straightened our clothes. I tried to sound convincing when I said, “Nobody’s fucking anybody. Sometimes we settle arguments with…”

“Your tongues?” Jay asked.

“Is this a guessing game?” Truck asked Pretty Boy.

“No, man. You don’t need to guess to see what the hell is going on.” His retort was quick and full of irritation.

“Is Sumo patched up, Doc?” King asked Jay, looking past Truck.

“I got the bullet out,” she held up the bullet fragment in her gloved hand with a smile. “I gave him something potent to knock him out for a while and to take away the pain. Now, he just needs to rest and keep that dressing clean and dry. If he shows signs of infection, call me.”

“Call you?” Pretty Boy said. “You saying you want to work for the Kings?”

“Did I say that? Pretty Boy, is that your name?” Jay squinted at him like his forehead would have a nametag.

“The one and only,” he said giving her a handsome smile.
