“You will when observation is over, so do as you’re told. I won’t say that shit again.” Oh, he was enjoying this shit way too much. I grit my teeth together and pulled the stupid-ass lion mask out, looked at it, then stuffed it back in the bag.

Truck and Pretty Boy laughed their asses off as they headed out of the apartment, leaving Sumo knocked out on the couch. King and I were the last ones out. He was right on my ass as I walked. I kinda liked the feeling of having him so close.

“You look sexy as shit,” he said in a quiet low voice, leaning down so I could hear him.

“Even in the YSL heels?” I asked him.

“Especially in the heels.” He winked at me then walked ahead to catch up with Pretty Boy and Truck.

What the fuck was King Pierce doing to me?

I was blushing.

Hard.

Stan’s house was still the same from the outside. Nothing had changed in the three years since I’d been there. I shuddered inside thinking about how panicked I was when I bolted through the front doors after I shot him.

“You cool?” Pretty Boy asked from the driver’s seat. I rode with him because he had the surveillance feed that tapped into Stan’s Ring doorbell camera.

“Yeah, I’m good,” I told him, staring at the image of Stan’s house on Pretty Boy’s screen. King and Truck were a block away. They couldn’t interfere though. This was my kill mission. I had to do this to prove loyalty and that I was down for anything.

I was.

The adrenaline pumping through my veins shocked me. I thought maybe some fear would inch in on me unexpectedly but the only thing coursing through me was excitement. I wanted to see Stan’s face when he heard my voice. I had to wear the lion mask to mark it as a Legion of Kings' murder but I’d find a way to let him know it was me.

“I’m tapped into his in-home surveillance too,” Pretty Boy said, typing on an iPad. I looked over his shoulder and peered at the screen.

“Shit, look at you, Pretty Boy. You’re a fucking genius,” I marveled.

“These aren’t hard to tap into.” He shrugged like it was nothing.

“Spare me the nerding out. I have to deal with that enough with my sister and medical shit.”

“So…about your sister,” he said, wetting his lips. “She single?”

“She likes a doctor at her hospital. Back off.”

“Fuck him. She’s bad, Juju. I need her number.” He sat up straighter, rubbing his hands together.

“Can’t you stalk her and find it? Why do you want me to give it to you?” I asked.

“I could but it’s different when I have to work for it.”

“Asking me isn’t working for it,” I told him.

“Fair enough.” He quieted then looked at me for a while. I pretended not to see it but after a few long beats, it was getting annoying.

“Why are you staring at me?”

“Wondering what kind of bullshit you’re going to bring with you into the Kings.”

“Why do you think I’m going to bring bullshit?” I frowned at him, folding my arms across my chest.

“Because you’re already fucking King and causing a rift between two brothers. I trust King but…” He shook his head not finishing his statement.

“First of all, you don’t know if I’m fucking King or not. What you walked in on today was…”
