I showered, got dressed, then called Jay to check on her and fuss at her about eating because I knew she’d only snacked.

“I’m going to heat something up right now,” she sighed. “Now, you, Jupiter Gray, tell me what the fuck was up earlier today at that apartment. Who were those men and why did you shoot one of them?”

I knew that line of questioning was coming. I was already prepared for it. I looked at myself in the mirror, moving my long hair over my shoulder so I could braid it.

“You already know who they are, Jay,” I sighed into the phone.

“Are they really? I kinda suspected with there being four of them and then the big one being so busted up.”

“Yeah, that’s them. The founding four.” My fingers worked through my hair, braiding deftly. “You already know you can’t say a fucking word, Jane.”

“Wow. It’s been forever since you called me Jane. You must be serious, huh?”

“Very,” I said sharply. I knew my sister could keep a secret but this one was imperative. I didn’t want to bring any heat to the four kings. Even Sumo’s stupid ass. If one of them went down, it would only be a matter of time before the others did.

I thought about Truck being taken away in cuffs and my stomach tightened. He was sweet but he was angry and I knew restraining him wouldn’t end well for anyone.

“I won’t say anything, god. You know me better than that. I’m just curious as to why and how you fell in with them of all people. They’re dangerous, Juju.” Concern peppered her voice.

“They are. I like them though.” I secured the end of my braid with a thin gold hair tie then looked myself over.

“You like them or you likeKing? Is he the one-night stand?” A smile lingered in her voice and I bit my bottom lip to stop from grinning like an idiot.

“He is,” I said, stifling the giddiness trying to drip through my words.

“Oh my god! I knew it! He came to Salaza and paid for your entire meal with Jamil, didn’t he? Shaheed told me Jamil said you left after some guy paid for your date.”

“Yup. That would be King. Asshole.” I smiled ruefully.

“That’s…wow. Like that took some balls to pay for another man’s date.”

“He left a note too,” I informed her as I rubbed hand cream on. I picked out a few cute things to take to King’s place, even though I knew I was only spending the night.

“A note?” Jay said. “What did it say?”

“Told me to meet him at his car. So…I went.”

“Damn, Juju. Is the dick that good, girl? You never follow directions.”

I laughed loudly, falling over on the bed. “Jay, it’s too good. Like stupid decision good. It’s so…” I shut my eyes and savored the feeling of King’s big dick ruining my insides. “Mmm…”

“Okay, that’s enough. I get it. You’re glowing. I’m not even in front of you but I can hear the glow through the phone.”

“What glow? There’s no glow.” I tried to sober my expression as if she could see me.

“Girl, his dick might as well be a glow stick because your ass is lighting up the sky with that glow.”

“Oh my god, Jane Gray!” I roared with laughter. I wasn’t going to be able to get that glow stick comment out of my head for the rest of the night.

“What? I saw him. He’s a tall glass of chocolate milk, Juju,” Jay crooned.

“I know, right? Fine ass.” I tossed a few toiletries in my bag and zipped it up.

“Are you two going to start dating now or…” Jay let her words trail off.

“Dating? Hell no. King is too controlling and hot-headed to actually date. We’re just fucking. It’s fun for now.”

“Uh-huh…right. So if you’re just fucking, why were you hanging out with him and his friends?” A short laugh fell from her. “Unless you’re being inducted into…the…” Her broken words were puzzle pieces falling into place.
