“Pretty Boy…not you too, bro. Come the fuck on, man.” I tossed my hand in the air and he rubbed his forehead.

“I’m not in love with Juju. I’m just saying, Jay has been shutting me down around every corner, and…”

“And you need some pussy?” I asked, laughing. “Juju ain’t what you want, my nigga. I can assure you.”

“I didn’t say she was but you can’t have her out here like that, moaning and shit. That’s not cool, King.”

“Listen, I get it. My bad. I know you wouldn’t try anything with Ju.”

“Never. Nigga, I would die first but I’m still a man. Y'all gotta cut that shit out.” He frowned and stared across the court at Juju and Truck talking. She was busy soothing him and holding his hand. She had a way with him that nobody else did. She calmed his thoughts and made him settle down.

“Chill out, Pretty Boy. Every chick in Inglewood wants to fuck you. Go get one.”

“I know. I tried that. They’re not what I want right now.” He stared at nothing in particular and I laughed a little.

“Damn, Doctor Jay got your nose open and you haven’t even fucked her yet?”

“Fuck you, King. I’m not open. I want her though and I’m going to get her.” I believed him because he was determined as hell. He was an expert at cracking codes and Jay was a code he needed to crack. He wouldn’t stop until he got her.

“If you see Sumo, kill him. Hopefully, I’ll see his ass first though,” I told Juju, Pretty Boy, and Truck. We suited up in all black and loaded up. Before Juju left with Truck, I kissed her forehead and told her I loved her. I saw the anxiety in her eyes when she looked at me and I tossed my arm around her shoulders.

“I’ll be fine, baby.” I winked at her and slapped her ass a little before walking out.

CHAPTER SIXTEEN

“Lights off, Truck,” I said as we approached the complex where Sumo lived. He killed the headlights and we circled the complex slowly at first. The goal was to get Sumo to notice us then ride back toward Inglewood where we had protection and kill him there.

“That’s his apartment up there. The lights are on,” Truck said, pointing as we slowed to a stop.

“You wanna go up?” I asked, ready for whatever.

“I don’t want you to go,” he said, looking at me then glancing away.

“Truck, I’m a king. I have to go.”

“But…Juju, Sumo hates you and…” The fear in his voice was palpable. I was quiet while he sorted out his thoughts. “If he tries to hurt you.” Truck just shook his head. “I can’t have that. I’d never forgive myself.”

“Do you give this same speech to King?” I asked him, lifting an eyebrow. “What about Pretty Boy?”

“No. You know I don’t. You’re not them though,” He said quietly, tapping his thumb against the steering wheel.

“I have on my vest, and you don’t, by the way, and I have my guns on me. I’m good. Now park the truck so we can run up on Sumo. Or at least make sure he sees us and follows.” He heaved a sigh then pulled into a parking space and killed the engine. We sat there in silence for a while, looking around at people come and go. Truck perked up when he saw Sumo hop out of a car with a shorter, skinnier man. Must have been the guy TC Sumo had been running with.

“There’s Sumo.” He turned to me and said, “I know this goes against King’s orders but let me talk to him first, please.”

“Fuck Sumo. I know you love him but he’s gone, Truck. He shot King.”

Truck nodded sadly in response. “I know. But maybe…”

“Nah, there’s no maybe, babe.” I touched the side of his face and he smiled a little. “Let’s get this shit done. I’ll take out the little one.” I pulled my gun from my waistband and Truck sighed. It was an annoyed sound that made me laugh.

“Let’s go before they head upstairs,” Truck said, getting out and hopping down. I was right on his heels. I could tell by the way Truck was walking that he still wanted to talk. Meanwhile, I took the safety off my gun because fuck Sumo and fuck whoever he was hanging with. They could all catch these bullets.

“Yo,” Truck said, walking up on Sumo.
