“Your job is safe,” Steele told her firmly. “If this doesn’t work, and you can’t stay working for us then we will help you find a new job.”

“And pay your wages until you do,” Grady asked. “We’ll put that in writing.”

Steele nodded.

Okay. That was . . . that actually took care of her biggest fear. Well, there was something else.

“Both of you?” she whispered.

“Both of us,” Steele repeated, watching her steadily. He probably thought she was going to freak out. She had to admit . . . she was close to losing it.

“That’s not . . . normal. I mean, I know that the two of you like to share. But you said yourself that you’ve never been in a relationship . . . what about what people will think? What if someone gets jealous? I don’t . . . I don’t want to come between you both.”

“You won’t,” Steele said. “If we have problems, we’ll talk to each other. Grady and I have been best friends since we were ten.”

“Steele saved me from a bully,” Grady added. “I was living in a foster home at the time. They were good people, but they weren’t family. When I met Steele, that’s who he became.”

“So we know how to deal with each other. And we won’t involve you in any arguments.”

“That doesn’t seem right.” She frowned.

“No, that’s us protecting you,” Steele told her. “Which is our right as your men. We make your life easier, not harder. We’re both men who like to be in charge in varying ways. I’m likely going to be extremely overprotective. Grady has a fixation on rules and control. You’ll have enough to deal with. You don’t deal with our shit too. Understand me? And I can safely say that as many of your worries, fears, and burdens that you want to give us, we want to take.”

Lord.

Good Lord.

It was like they were made for her. Not having any worries or fears seemed like an impossibility. But if anyone could shoulder them it was the two of them.

“Brooks.” It was all she could say, but she knew they’d get where she was coming from.

They shared a glance. “Baby, your kid is sixteen going on forty,” Steele told her. “If I scared easily, it might scare me how mature he is.”

“I know. But he’s still a kid, and I need to look out for him. He’s my responsibility.”

“We understand that,” Grady said. “And you’ve done an excellent job with him. What I can tell you is that he already has more than a bit of an idea about us. And he did not in any way seem concerned about both of us wanting you. Although he did tell us that if we hurt you, he would find a way to get revenge on us.”

“He did?” she whispered. That was such a Brooks thing to do. “He’s such a good kid.”

“So if that’s all the worries you’ve got at the moment, how about we go feed our baby?” Steele suggested.

Their baby.

She liked that.

But what would they think when they learned that she actually liked regressing? That she was a Little?

Part of her knew she had to tell them.

And part of her was scared too.

Effie had the look of someone who was going to bolt.

Grady understood that feeling. When it came to speaking about his emotions, acknowledging that he had them . . . yeah, he’d rather run.

Her eyes were wide, and she looked slightly ill as Steele took her hand to lead her into the diner. That could be why Steele had taken hold of her hand—to ensure she didn’t bolt.
